Today my tasting looks at the second of three wines from Tenuta San Guido, the 2024 vintage of Guidalberto – this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that is labelled as a Toscana IGT. The wine is a pre-release sample as the wines will be physically released to international markets in June. Currently the wine is just a little closed, but never the less shows a superb balance between concentrated fruit, a fine structure and fresh acidity.
The Tenuta San Guido estate is located in Bolgheri, the Tuscan region of Maremma. Owned since the Middle Ages by the della Gehardesca family, the estate only started producing the wines for which it is famous in the 1940s and only commercialized them for the first time in 1971.
The first vintage of Le Difese was the 2002. The wine is named after the tusks of the Wild Boar, underlining the wild nature of the Maremma region where Wild Boar still roam free.

I love all the background information you provide. Going back to older videos, you’ve really developed a great style and camera presence. Thank you for these videos.
Interesting how hard it had been to introduce a structured wine 🍷 in the local vicinity.
Beautiful view from this enticing porch. Relaxing background for such a satisfying tasting experience. Thank you very much.
