I’m in Twickenham today to try an Italian restaurant known as Ristorante Sorrento. The restaurant was given a zero hygiene rating a year ago, let’s see what happens!

SPOILER BELOW:
I will provide an update on this pinned comment when they have received certification for 5/5 hygiene rating following the owner's comments.
The food was superb and I highly recommend.
Certainly looked better than a 0 rating
You didnβt mention the microwave was overused π
Thoroughly enjoyable eating. Fantastic value.. would like to visit..great revue as ever…well done Gary.
Well-done excellent review
Went there years ago and it was nice
Thereβs a place called Kurdish shawarma that was in our local paper last week for having a zero health rating in Darlington
I wouldnβt get through a quarter of that. Monster portions. Are they meant for two?
Excellent value and the food looked epic.. nice review Gaz π
Minestrone is a vegetable broth with a watery stock. That is how they have it in Italy.
I agree with 9 from what we were shown. Food looked good
Food looked great.Rustic comes to mind.π
Gary a great video but the new owner had nothing to do with the family which owned it from 1966 how can the statement be true that is family run so in my opinion I see him as not trustworthy payment issues mmmmm.. In England it is voluntary to display food hygiene rating scary. While mandatory in Wales and Northern Ireland to display the sticker, it is voluntary in England. However, all rated businesses can be checked online via the Food Standards Agency.
Hi Gary – WOW, that price was brilliant, and it all looked gorgeous – especially those Sardines. I have to be honest, if I'd seen a zero rating on the door, I would NOT have gone in ! Let's hope he gets his new Rating Sticker very soon. Good on him for turning the place around, and good on you for giving his place the benefit of the doubt. Thanks Gary – excellent review as always. Take care π
I love how genuine you are Gary, you're an inspiration to me in the sense that I learn how a gentleman truly acts to others. You are my beacon of manners sir. Love from Australia β€
Masala wine Gary ! Lol
0 stars rating , can be for a whole load of things and not the food, certificates for employee's being up to date ,records not being updated etc, sardines r fab and the food looked good and value for money.ππππππ
Thank you Gary, I have been craving Italian. Tiramisu was actually used as a breakfast food or pick me up snack π
The environment health would have served a notice of improvement if the hygiene rating was a zero. The next stage could end up with a forced closure if wasn't improved.
A zero rating means zero germs, right? So it should be super safe to eat there.
Would you normally not get the soup first and when finished soup then something else?
Thank you so much for delicious, intressting ,and helpful videoπππ
Sounds like what Ofsted inspectors do to schools. The paperwork itself is exhausting.
It looks great, affordable and delicious food
Yet one more good and thoroughly impartial review Gary.Im sure the restaurant will benefit as will the diners.
That looked awesome. I don't travel to London so wish something like that was up north.
This made me hungry.
Na fish looks disgusting and the pointless faf with the bones nah pointless waste of fkn everything
I gave this episode the 10,000th like. And well deserved, of course. Great video and I would love to dig into the lasagna as well as the cannelloni.
Sorry Gary, just a small correction, I think you inferred that Beef Stroganoff is an Italian dish, not so, its a Russian dish my pal. It is a classic Russian dish that originated in the mid-19th century. It was named after a member of the wealthy Russian Stroganov family, likely created by a French chef with beef, sour cream (smetana), and mustard. It is often confused with Hungarian goulash. I am not trying to embarrass you, as of course you know that we all love your very much.
Hi Gary, I hate seeing "Congratulations", on your new, "5 Star Food Hygiene Rating" posts on social media.. "What" – for just being how it should be Anyway !!!πππ₯©πππ,
My wife is a chef, and her view is anything below 5 stars is basically an improvement notice
Hi Gary, good to try restaurants with bad reviews from others: I always trust your advice mate π
I'm no expert but my eyes don't deceive me. I am so proud how the team played, but oh God the ref and Var leaves a lot to be desired what absolute and utter shambles they were. Used to complain about the Championship ones but at.least they had an excuse, and we didn't have Var to make it worse. All I can say well done lads , you did brilliant against those odds. Refs and so called Var experts should have more training, they were diabolical.
