  1. I remember an Anthony Bourdain episode where a chef in Italy put pineapple on pizza as a challenge. He used fresh pineapple and Bourdain liked it.

  2. Tried it several times. I can't do it. I love pineapple, I'm a human so I love pizza. Just not together.

  3. My pizza is cut into eight slices and has a lot of cheese on it. Lots of shrimp, really spicy beef, chicken, pork, especially really well-done, tender pork. When there is spiciness, for balance there must either be sauce on the bottom or a suitable sweet topping on top, not pineapple, it can be a really sweet tomato or even peach 🍕🧀🍕🍷

  4. As a non Italian I grew up eating Hawaiian pizza with pineapple and ham. It was delicious and always hit the spot. Now that I'm a snob, I only eat authentic Neapolitan margarita. pizza

  5. I had a few slices of a ham & pineapple pizza the other week & honestly it was bad at all.. salty & lightly sweet. The pineapple gets roasted during the cooking process taking out a lot of its sweetness. Would I order it myself? Absolutely not considering there’s much better options available, but if it’s in front of me I’m gonna eat it

  6. First place I remember seeing this was at a defunct place called Shotgun Sam's in Joplin, MO circa 1977. Now I get the Hawaiian Pizza from Casey's.

  7. Apparently Italians didn't think of pineapple. It's actually good. But apparently Italians think it's ok to put Honey on pizza. Nahhhh

  8. it's the bacon or ham "with" pineapple that works- took a long time before i tried it too and i sure as hell wouldn't just get pineapple only- it's not just italians that pizza- us irish eat it too, along with maybe 867 other ethnicities- was married to a really italian woman for 15 yrs and current gfriend is also so i've seen my share of pizza and pasta

  9. I was a “purist” back in the day, having grown up in Chicago. I REFUSED to try pineapple on pizza. RE-FUSED! 😡 Anyway, my little brother ended up getting a job in a pizza place as a kid and he brought home a pepperoni and pineapple pizza. I began to scold him. But after much persuasion to try just two bites, I gave in just to shut him up and to say I at least tried it. Damn! What a fool I was. I’ve never looked back. Screw the Canadian bacon. It’s pepperoni and pineapple. I mean, no joke, give it a try on some awesome, crispy, thin crust. It’s all over. Trust me. Even if it isn’t your favorite, you’ll at least walk away respecting it, guaranteed.

  10. I like old school. Light tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Sold by the slice, where you can fold it in half. NY pizza is the best, PERIOD!!!

  11. Yes, there should. Look at the history of Pizza. The first Pizza made in Naples that had pineapple and mint leaves was made by Giuseppe Starita. He turned his family’s wine cellar into a pizzeria in 1948. The son, Don Antonio Starita travelled to Ontario, Canada. He met a Greek guy named Sam Panopoulos in the 60’s. This guy Sam then went on to introduce it to his own shop the Satellite Restaurant. But originally from Naples, Italy. Right now Don Antonio Starita’s son is the owner of the Pizzeria in Naples, his name is Giuseppe "Peppe" Starita – they got a lot a backlash for it they ended up removing it from their Menu in the 60’s. Not sure if they put it back now but it really took off in Canda.
