廣州越秀區北京路：

北京路是中國廣東省廣州市越秀區一條集文化、娛樂、商業於一體的街道，是廣州市有史以來最繁華的商業中心，日均人流量約35萬人次。北京路北起廣衛路，南到沿江中路，全長1,500多米。

舊時的北京路，是廣州大南門（今北京路、大南路口）內外的一條南北向主要街道。宋代滅南漢後，拆南城牆，將南城沿至江邊，建「雙闕」。1156年，廣州向南擴建。1244年，建雙門樓，從此北京路中段被稱作雙門底，漸成為商業區。清代時，今北京路由北至南依次為承宣直街、雙門底、雄鎮直街、永清街，以賣書坊、古董市、花市為著名。明清時期，雙門安放了長壺滴漏，周邊百姓通過它安排祭祀活動。清雍正年間，現北京路與沿江路交匯的珠江邊，是天字碼頭的所在地，為清代時是專為迎送官員而設，附近的接官亭正是當時迎接官員的地點。

民國九年（1920年），廣州拆城牆開路，將此路改名為「永漢路」（國民政府使用粵音英文名「Wing Hon Road」），取的是清朝已滅，把南街名「永清」變為「永漢」之意。1936年，曾任國民政府首任立法院長的胡漢民去世後，又胡本身乃廣州人，為紀念之，永漢路更名為「漢民路」。1949年10月中國共產黨奪取廣州後恢復原稱。1966年文化大革命期間被當局改名為「北京路」，寓意廣州人民擁護黨中央，嚮往首都北京之意。至今沒有恢復舊名。2016年8月，北京路文化旅遊區列為國家4A級旅遊景區，亦是廣東省首家全開放、全免費的國家4A級旅遊景區。

1997年2月，北京路正式開通為雙休日步行街，逢雙休日實施只允許公共汽車行駛的准步行。從1998年到2001年期間，北京路逢節假日實施所有車輛均不能行駛的全步行；2002年元旦起，北京路正式實施全日制步行。北京路是百年老店和廣州老字號商鋪的集中地，店鋪眾多，規模大，經營樣式齊全，各類商鋪賣場，以及酒樓、餐飲食肆、文化娛樂場所和銀行等總計超過五百家。沿街商鋪以經營服裝、百貨、鞋類、餐飲、珠寶為主，現有時裝、皮具專賣店近300多家，服裝、鞋業、精品、百貨等綜合商場20多家。廣州市最早的肉菜市場——禺山市場亦位於北京路上。現代化的大百貨公司則有建於20世紀40年代的新大新百貨公司，廣州百貨公司、銀座、五月花商業廣場等大商店。2008年，天河城百貨還進駐了早前新的名盛廣場，令附近的商業變得更加興旺。

北京路的飲食消費層次非常之多，從低價的小吃店、快餐店到高檔的餐廳，應有盡有，餐飲種類亦豐富多樣，有古色古香的廣州地道西關美食，有全國各地風味菜品，有越南、意大利、法國等特色西餐料理，有迴轉壽司、鐵板燒等日本料理，此外還有韓國菜、印度菜以及東南亞美食等等。新式食肆主要集中在光明廣場，臨近的惠福東路在2010年起也大力發展飲食，臨街食肆林立。

Beijing Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou:

Beijing Road is a street in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, integrating culture, entertainment, and commerce. It has historically been the most prosperous commercial center in Guangzhou, with a daily pedestrian flow of approximately 350,000 people. Stretching from Guangwei Road in the north to Yanjiang Middle Road in the south, the road spans over 1,500 meters.

In ancient times, Beijing Road was a major north-south street located inside and outside Guangzhou’s Great South Gate (today’s intersection of Beijing Road and Danan Road). After the Song Dynasty conquered the Southern Han Kingdom, the southern city wall was dismantled, extending the city to the riverbank, where the “Double Gate Towers” were constructed. In 1156, Guangzhou expanded southward. By 1244, the Double Gate Towers were built, and from then on, the middle section of Beijing Road became known as Shuangmendi, gradually developing into a commercial district. During the Qing Dynasty, the present-day Beijing Road consisted, from north to south, of Chengxuan Street, Shuangmendi, Xiongzhen Street, and Yongqing Street, renowned for its bookshops, antique markets, and flower markets.

In February 1997, Beijing Road was officially designated as a weekend pedestrian street, allowing only buses to pass on weekends. From 1998 to 2001, it became a full pedestrian zone during holidays, prohibiting all vehicle traffic. Starting from New Year’s Day in 2002, Beijing Road officially became a full-time pedestrian street. It is a hub for century-old shops and time-honored Guangzhou brands, featuring a large number of stores, extensive scale, and a wide variety of business types. The area boasts over 500 establishments, including shops, markets, restaurants, eateries, cultural and entertainment venues, and banks. In August 2016, the Beijing Road Cultural Tourism Area was designated as a National 4A-level Tourist Attraction, making it the first fully open and free National 4A-level tourist attraction in Guangdong Province.

Beijing Road offers a wide range of dining options, catering to various budgets and preferences. From low-priced snack stalls and fast-food restaurants to high-end dining establishments, the area has it all. The culinary scene is rich and diverse, featuring traditional Guangzhou-style Xiguan delicacies, regional Chinese cuisines, Western dishes from Vietnam, Italy, and France, Japanese fare such as conveyor-belt sushi and teppanyaki, as well as Korean, Indian, and Southeast Asian cuisines. New-style eateries are mainly concentrated in Guangming Plaza, while nearby Huifu East Road has also seen significant development in dining since 2010, with numerous restaurants lining the street.
