December 25th, 2025 — It’s Christmas Day, and ChaCha and I are celebrating it in one of the most special places in the world: Rome, Italy. We started our Christmas morning by heading to Vatican City to attend Christmas Day Mass and hear Pope Leo speak in St. Peter’s Square. Despite a rainy start, the experience was unforgettable. Hearing the Pope deliver a Christmas message — including a special English greeting wishing Merry Christmas to those in the United States and around the world — made the moment truly meaningful.

After the service, we explored the streets of Rome near the Vatican, soaking in the holiday atmosphere before stopping for lunch at a local wine bar owned by Romans. Great food, great wine, and an authentic local experience made it a perfect midday break.

Our afternoon walk took us through beautiful neighborhoods and ended near the historic Jewish Ghetto of Rome. That evening, we returned for dinner at Il Giardino Romano, a well-known restaurant in the Jewish Ghetto famous for traditional Roman-Jewish cuisine. This was a meal ChaCha had been looking forward to, especially their iconic fried artichokes (Carciofi alla Giudia). The food, atmosphere, and history made it a highlight of our Christmas Day.

By nightfall, the rain had stopped, the streets were glowing, and we walked back to our hotel tired, happy, and full of Christmas joy.

This was a Christmas we’ll never forget — filled with history, faith, food, and unforgettable moments in Rome.
