HITLER’S SLAVES – FORCED LABOUR UNDER THE NAZIS: ATONEMENT
Series: Hitler’s Slaves – Forced Labour under the Nazis
Episode: Atonement
Format: Documentary Series
Rating: 13+

SYNOPSIS:
In Atonement, the documentary traces the deadly escalation of forced labour during the final years of the Third Reich. Millions of workers perished—through brutal labour, the infamous Death Marches, and systematic mass executions. After 1945, the plight of forced labourers was largely denied and concealed in both West and East Germany.

Post-reunification, attempts to reappraise the crimes were limited, leaving many survivors without justice. Compensation efforts were largely symbolic, and thousands never received any recognition or restitution. The episode combines historical analysis, archival documents, and survivor testimonies to expose the human cost of exploitation and the continuing struggle for historical accountability.
