Trekking the Italian Dolomites felt like winning a gold medal — just by showing up. Hard for moms to get away and beyond grateful to have this experience.
This was a hut-to-hut hiking womens trip through the Italian Dolomites, based out of Cortina d’Ampezzo, and it ended up being one of the most soul-filling adventures of my life. Bright blue skies, dramatic limestone peaks, rolling green hills, cozy mountain huts (rifugios), and beautifully marked trails everywhere you look.
I showed up completely on my own and spent the week hiking with an incredible group of women — sharing stories on the trail, eating amazing food in the mountain huts, laughing in bunk rooms, and pushing ourselves physically and mentally in the best way.
For a regular mom living a very full, ordinary life, getting out of the kitchen and into the mountains in italy felt extraordinary.
If you’ve ever wondered whether hut-to-hut hiking in the Dolomites is doable for a regular person (not an elite athlete) — it is. And it’s worth it.
