Home to Pedro and Asia and their dog Lupe, Casa Koala is a small, protective “nest” shaped around daily rituals, sensory comfort, and the way they actually live. Colour, texture, and familiar objects help regulate the day, and every decision earns its place. Mornings begin in the kitchen, seated together at a long, narrow table made from a recycled tabletop, paired with repurposed toy boxes that double as seating and storage. Downstairs, the living area is designed for rest, with a sound-insulating carpet, oversized plush sofa and soft lighting. Upstairs, the home shifts into studio mode, where an attic-like workspace embraces awkward nooks and leftover materials, turning them into shelves, desks, and tool storage for Asia’s illustration work. Thoughtful choices in the bedroom and bathroom, – including hidden laundry, a painted headboard, and under-bed storage – keep daily life simple and uncluttered.

  1. Nice, bright apartment and adorable dog. Could I get the details of the polish company where you got your beechwood cupboards made?

  2. This🙌 It really feels like a home, not just a box . As someone ND, light, space , textures and feel is incredibly important in my home. Gorgeous home😊

  3. I think this has been my favourite tour so far. Very natural and flowing. No airs and graces and an absolute pleasure to watch. 😊

  4. So in love with this home, and they put into words a lot of thoughts about how a home should feel & function that I (as a fellow neurodivergent human) agree with but have not been able to express quite right to others 😊

  5. I love this place. You two did a wonderful job of bringing out the best of its design elements. Also, Lupe is adorable. Thanks for sharing.

  6. EL O EL ! Small is when you live in a house with your two sisters and a brother, your aunt and her cousin, your father, his father, your mother and her parents, your second aunt and her son and the neighbours crippled widow. There are three rooms, a stove, table and some shelves. The door is open to the street, where passer-by's continously peek in, and street dogs beg for crumbs. It smells like smelly drainage and the air is moist but dusty at the same time. You have just finished whittling an effigy that you will take to the temple, where you hope to trade it for a bag of dried peas.

  7. Love the extra depth of the kitchen counter. I just might incorporate that in my next kitchen. Also, when the Koala balloon deflates, it could be framed and added to the art collection.

  8. I love that they mentioned how important it is for them to be able to see certain things that they love all the time and especially when they wake up. My space is very what other people would call 'cluttered'. White walls and minimalism make me physically ill. If I can't see everything I own all at the same time then it disappears from memory which in turn is distressing because I will constantly think I'm forgetting something. I think this couple did a great job with their space and Lupe is adorable.

  9. What a lovely home. I adore their creativity and attention to detail. Amazing space.

  10. More of this. Loved it. Great to see homes designed exactly for the people ( and dog) who live in them. They made 54sqm feel much bigger!

  11. 10:45 “I had a dream I was a ukulele prodigy” 😂😂 after acquiring one, it’s “not the reality” 😂 I love that she had so much faith in her dream and continues to try

  12. I wouldn't call this small. We raised 2 kids in 550 SF. I found it to be enough for the 4 of us and a dog.

  13. I am a regular NTS watcher. This episode was particularly beautiful. Thank you Pedro and Asia for opening up your neurodivergent world to us all. Fantastic rennovation. And I get it all. 👏❤🏠

  14. The painted stairs works on a few "levels". Very clever. Great space overall — feels like a home.

  15. There is clutter, random splashes of color with no themes, imperfect furniture. I LOVE it! Especially the use of sturdy toy boxes to double as storage. Great job!

  16. Thanks so much for sharing your story. Well done to you for your incredible hard work to remain off grid. You are an inspiration!

  17. Well designed apartment. It looks large. It is also very bright and functional. Very nice couple. I love the dog.

  18. I was like "all of this just makes sense, I don't see why would they label as anything other than common sense things things that just make sense" and then my ADHD meds alarm rang.
