In last week’s video I joked that since we’re soon to be parents, it’s time for Eva to introduce me to some classic Italian kids’ food… Well, she delivered! This past week she made me a pasta dish that is made for babies but I, an adult (supposedly), enjoyed it so much that I wanted to share it with you.
In this video, Eva shares three recipes using pastina: the Italian pasta that’s made for babies but secretly enjoyed by grown-ups. These dishes are ridiculously easy to make and deliver results that people of all ages are sure to love.

Which one are you most tempted to try?
My dad was a pediatrician and pastina was on his list of things for parents to have on hand for their little ones.
Cow cheese is great we get it in Australia also.
I’m going to try this. I’m in Canada we have the laughing cow cheese.
When you said you were sick in the evening, it made me remember something. Have you had your RH factor checked? If moms and baby's are different, it can cause a lot of sickness in early pregnancy and the womans body can reject the fetus. It is easily treated, after a blood test to find out what both your RH factors are. Rh factor is an inherited protein found on the surface of red blood cells, indicating whether blood is Rh-positive (protein present) or Rh-negative (protein absent). Roughly 85% of people are Rh-positive. It is critical in blood transfusions and pregnancy. Rh Incompatibility (Pregnancy): If a mother is Rh-negative and the fetus is Rh-positive, the mother’s body may produce antibodies that attack the baby's red blood cells.
I'm so happy for Ava and Harper, they are going to be amazing parents.
I
Mom used to make chicken & stars soup when we were little.
Pastina with cottage cheese and butter was a breakfast staple at our not-Italian home when I was growing up in New York. Going to buy some tomorrow if I can find it. Your news is wonderful. Only thing better than being a parent is being a grandparent.
I grew up on Pastina 😂
Congratulations! We had pastina (the little stars) in the morning for breakfast like others would have oatmeal or grits. We put butter and salt in it.
Salvi; I remember pastina, as child, simmering on the stove. The pastina I remember was made with a good amount of butter and olive oil. I don't remember cheese. But I was a kid so may by it was in the pastina and I didn't know. My pastina was with the star pasta. I enjoyed learning about the other recipes.
I added a small scoop of pastina into my sons baby foods it kept them full longer 😊
Can I just say thank you for sharing these and this is the sort of recipe that only families eat like the Irish have this thing called egg in cup. Which is chopped up toast with boiled eggs softball leagues are you mix it all together in a cup and it’s a breakfast treat and I love it with a little bit of cheese as an adult and plenty of crack pepper
My favorite pastina was made with bullion cube and olive oil.
My second favorite had butter instead of olive oil
Tutte e 3 deliziose
My Mom always put that in chicken soup.
Growing up my grandmothe, aunts, and mother would make "sick person pastina" whenever we we sick. It's a simple dish, stellina, butter, and milk. I'm 67 and still have this when I'm not feeling so great! This was a great episode! Pastina rocks.
19:04 We have tried the laughing cow version in the US and it is quite similar to formaggino mio in Italy!
In the states, most Italian Americans think of pastina as a very specific soup, which I didn’t know until I was in my 30s and the internet was talking about it. Made me feel sort of disconnected because that isn’t how my family made it for us when we were little. What we had is more similar to what you cooked, and that makes my experience feel more valid. Thank you.
My Mum made pastina with zuppa di pollo. Using Peperina.
Mio is the best… however laughing cow is a good substitute… we have it in Australia too
Yay! ❤🧸🫂
I had pastina al pomodoro a few times when I was little. I forgot all about it until now! I remember loving it! I'll have to have it again! 😊
Don't let Harper feed the baby…. otherwise little one wouldn't see one spoon of food 😂😂😂
The Aussie version – Pastina with butter and Vegemite!!
My grandmother used to make the pastina in milk with butter and garlic for me when I was little. I still remember climbing down the stairs backwards to get a bowl or two.
The first version with milk..that is gold; have never thought of that ❤️👏, passing on to my young folk with thanks 🙏
