During a recent visit to Tuscany I very much enjoyed visiting the Petra Winery in the Val de Cornia. As I hope this video shows, the setting is beautiful, sitting to the south of Maremma and looking out towards the coast and out to the island of Elbal. Here the striking architect-designed winery fits harmoniously into the landscape. This impressive structure combines form and functionality.
I really enjoyed the wines I tasted here, they are all labelled as IGT Toscana. The range starts with the Hebo, an unoaked blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Hebo is followed by the lively, elegant Querceagobbe Merlot which I think offers superb value for money. The estate’s flagship wine, Petra, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, completes the range.
