DERTHONA, THE OUTSIDER OF ITALIAN WHITES
There is an ancient native white grape variety called Timorasso. From this grape, exclusively in the Colli Tortonesi area, a structured, intense yellow white wine is produced: it is called Derthona, taking the ancient Roman name for Tortona. It is here that we met its proud producers: Enrico de Alessandrini of Sassaia, Elisa Semino of La Colombera, and Walter Massa of Vigneti Massa, the acclaimed pioneer of this new generation of producers who are placing Derthona on the world’s most important wine lists. Joining Alessandra Fedi are Edoardo Mossi, an off-road rally sports coordinator, and food and wine journalist Lara Loreti, with a special appearance by Tortona chef Anna Ghisolfi.
