I went on 48 hour Bulgarian street food tour of Sofia and I ate everything. From Mekitsa and Banitsa to insane kebabs and a huge pork leg. This city is an absolute food paradise.

    Next time when you eat “shekembe chorba” try to put in some dry chili and garlic mixed with vinegar,that’s the traditional way that all Bulgarians eat their “shkembe chorba”

    But I had to say, the way you eat our food, or any other food in the world is so satisfying to watch. And I have never seen anyone doing it the right way, as most westerners get it wrong on how to eat Asian food. No disrespect to any of the mentioned folks but absolute respect man.

    You acted like a total straniero, it's kind of funny. You never drink rakija the way you did. Always put ice in it, never drink it warm and after you sip you always appetize. You had the lutenitza, the eggplant and the cheese appetizer. That was perfect for you rakija. Enjoy it.

    Pod lipite was the restaurant where a lot of famous Bulgarian writers and poets used to come,because most of them lived in the area arround,lozenetz neighbourhood, now one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Sofia,sq.meter apartment starts from 6000euros,the state gave plots of land to the writers and they built their homes there and it became smth like the neighbourhood of the writers,one of the most famous Elin Pelin was comming there often and he was one of the best friends of the Bulgarian tzar Boris the third,they went hunting together,Boris was poisoned by Hitler because he refused to deport the Bulgarian Jews-49 000 and more than 10 000 from the lands Bulgaria occupied in thrace and macedonia(we were neighbours with Italy back than in macedonia)Bulgaria was the only European country to save all Jews from the holocost,only Denmark saved 5000 people

    The place where you had the banitsa with cheese and spinach is my all-time favourite! I grew up 200 meters down the street and I've been eating banitsa there for 30+ years now. Love it that you went there and liked it😊
