While Sicily is known to have many free-ranging cats like these, it seems they were a lot more visible here in Siracusa than in other cities, which is probably because of the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of Siracusa.
The cats have a base territory to spend most of their time in, but they also get around walking from one part of the island to another. Of course, they never get lost with those sharp eyes and ears while sniffing their way around. The pedestrian zone is so extensive that cats don’t have to worry about getting run over by a car.
These peaceful lanes extend throughout the historic center, making it also pleasant for visitors to explore.

I was in Marrakech a month ago, there was a cat on my terrace, it also slept in my airbnb because it was cold outside. When I had to fly back to Germany, where I have also 2 cats, the good bye broke my heart 😭
Dennis, I love that you've made a video like this. You're obviously a cat lover, and my girlfriend and I am too! On our travels, things seem sweeter and more special if you notice the little things, like befriending local cats. We love your videos, and your narrating style is great! Keep up the good work.
Love this video. The cats would be our main interest there. Our cat watched this intently.
We met a couple in Florence. They had their window open during night, and woke up with a cat sleeping on their bed with them.
Kotor, Montenegro is a small town with large community cat culture, and Istanbul, Turkey is a large city with a community cat culture.
aww…beautiful…
when we go to places like greece etc we always carry around dry cat food to feed the cats 🙂
Котките са душата на всеки град. Обичам невероятната Сиракуза. Сърдечно от България и поздравления за хубавото видео.❤
