I’d never heard of this grape and than I saw the bottle… I’m guessing many of you haven’t either?
Tell me in the comments!!
The appellation is Cour-Cheverny and the grape is 100% Romorantin — a rare, historic variety you basically only find here (Loire Valley area).
Cool continental climate = fresh fruit, high acidity, low alcohol, usually no oak. This one is just 12% ABV.
Romorantin is known for citrus + green fruit, a hint of florality, and it’s prone to oxidation, so it needs protective winemaking (think stainless steel, lees aging). And with age? You can get tertiary notes like dried nuts — this bottle is 2013, so it has real aging potential.
If you’ve tasted Romorantin or Cour-Cheverny, tell me what you thought 👇
