Did we find the campsite in Albania with the most beautiful sunsets? As we continue our journey North toward the Montenegro border, we discover that Northern Albania is a land of stunning sunsets and hidden “legends.” In this episode, we find a quiet lagoon at Pata Camping, survive a literal pack of dogs to enjoy a delicious local meal, and end up at Camping Legjendia—a resort-style park sitting right in the shadow of the massive Rozafa Castle. We also deal with our first major RV “headache”: a broken kitchen faucet that might have to wait until we get back to Italy!

From Lagoon Sunsets to Castle Views
Our trek North only took us about 30km at a time, but each stop felt like a different world. At Pata Camping, we were treated to incredible harbor sunsets and a quiet atmosphere that let us truly relax.
The Highlights of Northern Albania:
• The “Dining Huts”: After a slightly tense encounter with a pack of local dogs (shoutout to the restaurant owner who saved us!), we enjoyed a fresh Sea Bass dinner and Kabobs in a unique dining hut.
• Lezhë Stopover: We found a great spot in the town of Lezhë for a much-needed hot shower and a quiet night’s sleep accompanied by the sounds of local farm life.
• Camping Legjendia (Shkodër): This place is truly “Legendary.” With a lookout tower, a pool, and a view of Rozafa Castle right from our pitch, it felt more like a luxury resort than a standard campground.
🛠️ The Reality of RV Life: The Broken Faucet
It wouldn’t be a motorhome adventure without something breaking! Our kitchen faucet micro-switch decided to quit, meaning our water pump won’t trigger. After a bit of “RV surgery,” I realized a wire came loose, but a permanent fix will have to wait until we return to Italy in March. For now, we’re improvising!
🇲🇪 Crossing the Border
With a quick stop for cash (and a helpful nod from a local official regarding our parking), we made our way to the border. Albania was incredible, but it’s time to check off Country #9: Montenegro!
