  1. First story, OP is not the AH this was an appropriate action. And maybe it will finally sink into SIL to not act this way. Nobody likes a sneaky backseat cook and that is grounds for being asked to leave if conversations about their behavior goes on deaf ears.

  2. As someone who is midwestern & loves ranch on pizza, this is your most controversial episode yet 😂 (totally teasing) there are, however, social boundaries and courtesies when it comes to bringing in “outside” food into a restaurant. Loved this one, per usual! Also have to say love the word play of saucy in the title & how you two linked that into the stories!

  3. sorry but.. legally, if i find out a coworker has an non airborne allergy and put the allergen in MY food, im in the clear. if they eat my food it’s their fault i can put whatever the hell i want in MY food. and also they’re an idiot for eating something they don’t know the ingredients of when they have an allergy.

  4. I grew up eating ketchup on scrambled eggs just like everyone around me. I think it's a regional thing. Just like mayo or vinegar on fries. And yes, dipping french fries into a milk shake is not new to me.

  5. First story: me and my husband love cooking and adding spices to our food. However, adding spices to SOMEONE ELSE'S food is unacceptable!! You have no idea what they're planning to use it for or if they even like the same spices as you!!
Side note: Turmeric is a delicious earthy spice and goes really well with chicken noodle soup. It stains really easily and has a pretty strong taste, so you don't want to use too much of it. It doesn't go well with everything, but for some dishes, it's perfect. I don't think it would go well with a tomato base sauce, I don't know where she got the audacity to add all these spices to a sauce she's not even going to eat!!

  6. As someone with food allergies, I often have to bring my own condiments because I can’t eat most standard salad dressings. But that is an allergy not a preference or choice…

  7. I get horrendous migraines if I eat too much soy, I'd be so upset if someone snuck tofu/soy "meat" into my food.

It's so rude to steal people's lunch. It happened to me when I worked at a doctor's office and I was a broke college student at the time and couldn't just go buy lunch because someone stole it.

  8. When someone disrespects and says it's your fault for not letting them do what they want, that's a narcissistic red flag. I would have dump him on the spot. But at 20 I'd have the same reaction as the girl did, because of lack of life experience.
But that gross behaviour at a fancy restaurant? Huge red flag.

  9. Vegetarian food: I don’t blame them for being angry. No one should ever be fed something on the sly. It’s just as disrespectful to feed them fake meat as it is to feed a vegetarian real meat.

  10. The food tampering SIL is like someone who rearranges your kitchen cabinets, or your dresser drawers. Buy some bright yellow CAUTION tape and tape up the door to your kitchen. Maybe then she'll get the message.

  11. Hot sauce boyfriend: ok but where did he want to put the hot sauce?? Cause if it was on carbonara that's a crime… Also this dude has been dating the sister for 3 months and comes to lunch with the "in-laws" with this attitude?? What a keeper… OP got very defensive sure, but damn this guy came into their home and insulted OP's cooking…

  12. The chic who bought her partner the blender instead of the necklace she asked for is so the Asshole, especially when they didn't go back and buy the necklace. No woman wants kitchen appliances as gifts on a romantic occasion especially., its frankly insulting and smacks of misogyny. how do you borrow food? She stole it and I would sue especially since the boss wants you to pay her medical bills

  13. People who steal food and have any kind of reaction get what they deserve. People who steal food and then complain about tampering remind me of the reddit story where OP was pumping breastmilk at work and putting it in the work fridge with her name on it to take home at the end of the day. One of her coworkers kept stealing it for his coffee, thinking it was creamer. When she announced to the office that the little bottles in the fridge were breastmilk, so please don't take them, the thief accused her of sexual assault, saying that her cells were in his body without his consent.

Eating food you stole is giving blanket consent to eat whatever was in that food. There are people who use expired food in their cooking, or let their cats sit on their cutting boards, because the food they make is for themselves, so they accept the risk. I just don't buy that any jury would convict over food tampering or poisoning (or sexual assault) when the food in question is labeled with the owner's name, and the "victim" is actually just a thief.

  14. The hot sauce issue.
I feel like maybe the recipe was Nona's the way she mentioned about her being there and the judgement. Maybe she was saving hurt feelings.

  15. Nobody has mentioned the nepotism element (42:40) of OP's supervisor making the workplace a hostile work environment in going (unprofessionally) to bat for his thieving anaphylactic new-hire daughter.

  16. Having known Italians and having some distant Italian family members they are weirdly protective of their cuisine even criticizing you if you make it "wrong"…

  17. As an avid gardener and home canner I would be LIVID if someone messed with my canning recipes. I make tons of tomato sauce myself. I want to add the spices later if I use it for pasta but I use tomato sauce in my meatloaf, soups, and so much more.

Just the amount of work washing, peeling, deseeding ect just to get the produce to the sauce id a TON of work.

I would have become incandescent with rage myself.
