For a brief but remarkable period, Las Vegas embraced roller coasters as part of its identity. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, resorts along the Strip experimented with thrill rides built directly into their properties, using speed, height and spectacle to attract attention in an increasingly competitive city.
Explores the rise and decline of roller coasters in Las Vegas, from early headline grabbing attractions like High Roller at the Stratosphere and Desperado at Buffalo Bills, to resort integrated coasters such as Manhattan Express and Speed The Ride.
Some of these rides were designed for families, others pushed the limits of thrill ride design, but all were tied closely to the marketing ambitions of the resorts that built them. As Las Vegas shifted toward luxury experiences, large scale entertainment and high end dining, many of these coasters quietly faded away.
A small number still remain, including the Big Apple Coaster, Canyon Blaster and El Loco standing as reminders of a time when roller coasters briefly became part of the Las Vegas skyline.

I'm hoping to film my San Antonio amusement park footage in March, so you can use them for a future video.
Wonderful video! I truly loved and enjoyed this whole thing!
Vegas definitely deserves a new coaster. It needs a something unique that people from all over would love to come ride. This is an amazing video you put together by the way.
I plan on recreating the extinct coasters of Vegas in 3D and calling the park “Lost Vegas” for VrChat.
I loved Canyon Blaster in the late 2000's. I vividly remember in my teens marathoning it all day with a Groupon wristband while my friends grandma gambled. Great job on the video, it smashes my two favorite topics together (coasters and casinos).
"Big Apple Coaster" was actually named Manhattan Express. I remember that from 1997 I went there in July when I was a little kid
Went on el loco and canyon blaster a bit ago I could only wish they add more to the adventure dome
Wanna do a history video of Armageddon at Walt Disney Studios Park?
