What a nice reminder from @helpweboughtavillage UK Channel TV series we have been featured in.
My ancestors certainly hobnobbed with the influential people back in the day. The TV series also included the documented fact that Mozart wrote about dining with the wealthiest man of Frankfurt; my great (x5 grandfather from Verona who was an Italian silk merchant and banker who emigrated to Germany in the 1700s. There is even a marble epitaph dedicated to him in the Frankfurt cathedral. Goethe too visited the ancestral digs. Shame we don’t hobnob with the current influential greats but that’s probably because we haven’t got any money so aren’t of interest 😅

I miei antenati sicuramente frequentavano le persone influenti di un tempo. La serie TV includeva anche il fatto documentato che Mozart scrisse di aver cenato con l’uomo più ricco di Francoforte; il mio bisnonno (x5) di Verona, mercante di seta e banchiere italiano, emigrato in Germania nel settecento. C’è persino un epitaffio in marmo a lui dedicato nella cattedrale di Francoforte. Anche Goethe visitò la casa natale. Peccato che non frequentiamo i grandi influenti di oggi, ma probabilmente è perché non abbiamo soldi e quindi non ci interessano. 😅
