In this livestream, I’ll be teaming up with Kevin Day (bio posted below) to discuss and taste some of the world’s most unique and interesting white wines. Italy is a leader in offering a vast array of compelling indigenous grape varieties that often reveal a strong sense of place. We’ll highlight a couple of noteworthy examples that are well worth searching out, as well as a category-busting version of Pinot Grigio.
Kevin Day is the author of Opening a Bottle: Italy and has covered Italian wine extensively since 2014, when he established an online wine publication called openingabottle.com. As Opening a Bottle’s Editor-in-Chief, he annually files reports on Barolo, Barbaresco, Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Collio and Etna, and publishes in-depth photo essays and stories about compelling producers. Based in Denver, Colorado, he consults on private wine collections and speaks at wine events, and is an Italian, French and Spanish Wine Scholar with Highest Honors. Bob Paulinski, Master of Wine, has worked in the wine trade for over forty years. He became the 19th North American Master of Wine in 2002, breaking a four-year streak of no one passing the exam in North America. The exam consists of multiple days of essay writing and identifying 36 wines from around the world. He is a managing partner of Moxie Wine Group, a wine import company. He’s not a full-time YouTube creator, but rather posts as often as possible. His intent is to share personal, hands-on, real-world experiences in every video. He remains active in the Master of Wine program in an educational capacity. Over the years, he has extensively traveled the wine world, along with judging in nearly 200 wine competitions across five continents.
