Italian Sausage Beans and Greens | Food Wishes

This Italian sausage beans and greens is probably my favorite Italian recipe that doesn’t involve pasta. Savory sausage, earthy beans, and tender escarole, with just the right seasonings make this one of the best dishes ever for a cold winter day, but this is so delicious, you’ll want to enjoy it all year long. Enjoy!

  1. Man. I love this dish too! However, it is hard to find Escarole in TX?! I use Swiss Chard and Spinach mostly, but wish Escarole was available.

  2. I love hearty simple recipes. I imagine the Secretary of Health would approve as well.

  3. Made this last night with dandelion greens. So delicious. The lemon at the end really takes it over the top. Thanks, John!

  4. My food wish: Your take on the Danish “national dish”: Stegt flæsk med persillesovs 😊 yummi. Greetings from Copenhagen

  5. I love to expose my Sausage so everyone can admire how … oh nevermind… I bet this would also be delish with Black eyed peas!!

  6. So glad to see you share this. I've been making this for over 40 years. It's still a hit at my house.

  7. I made this today. It's the best Italian soup I've ever made, or had.

Edit, no escarolle, so, collard greens.

  8. Remarking on a previous post – "Chef John is still the best thing on the internet, hands down …" is a great comment, relative to cooking shows, etc. I believe there may be "other areas" on the internet he would not like to be considered "Best of"… and still others he wouldn't be caught dead in, so goes the Dark Web, eh? Oh, and hands up, down, all around… but let's keep them to ourselves please… cute, ain't i?

  9. For those needing only 1-2 portions of this, I’d used only some of the greens as I think I’d like the crunchy version. Add more greens when you heat up the leftovers. This is easy comfort meal.
