Brunello di Montalcinos are normally long-lived wines but the ideal drinking window for this vintage of this wine was given by one of the critics as 2004-2018 and that concerned me. I think 1998 is a vintage some commentators have underestimated as it sits between to even better vintages. This estate is renowned for producing elegant and balanced wines. La Poderina is a prestigious estate belonging to the larger Italian Tenute del Cerro wine group, the wine division of Gruppo Unipol, a major European insurance company.
