Comfort is right , but comfort without great food isnt that much . Youll see people stand and eat if the food is good , put up with shit service , shittier environment ,IF the food is great . Also restaurants can become too formal that a person who just got off work came from home to eat a nice meal , he just wants to wear something comfy .

Sometimes you want specific food, sometimes you just want to go out and socialise and be in a nice environment and the food choice is secondary. But I will often go to a place on my own, and there is one place that comes to mind, a Chinese spot where the food is banging, but the place looks run down and the service is very basic, but im going for the food, so it depends

When I go out to eat it's absolutely for the food, I could care less about the decor… You could have a restaurant that's in a prison cell or on a Ryanair flight and if the food is top tier I'll still go 😅

Technical and fancy always goes together so its a valid point, however, if the food is great there is already an ambience in the air.
