We had an Italian-themed date night at home and honestly? Making pasta from scratch was way more fun (and cheaper) than going out to dinner. We put on some Italian music, opened a bottle of wine, and turned our kitchen into our own little trattoria. ❤️
Day 14/25
There’s something special about making food together. The flour everywhere, the dough that doesn’t cooperate at first, the moment it actually turns into real pasta and you can’t believe you made it. It’s messy, it’s hands-on, and it’s the kind of date night you’ll actually remember.
How to create an Italian night at home:
🍝 Make fresh pasta from scratch (recipe below!)
🍷 Open a bottle of Italian wine (or sparkling cider)
🎵 Play Italian music in the background
🍝 Make it an experience, not just dinner
FRESH PASTA DOUGH RECIPE:
Ingredients:
• 2 cups flour
• 3 large eggs, at room temperature
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons water, or as needed
Directions:
1 Mix flour, eggs, olive oil, and salt in a bowl until combined. Add water, 1 teaspoon at a time, to flour mixture until a smooth, thick dough forms.
2 Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for 10 minutes. Let dough rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
3 Divide dough into 8 balls; use a pasta machine to roll and cut dough into desired pasta shape.
4 Cook in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes (fresh pasta cooks fast!)
Pro tip: Don’t stress about making it perfect. The fun is in doing it together.
