Tonight’s Podmas journey takes us to northern Italy with Aralena, a vibrant and refreshing Pinot Grigio from the Delle Venezie DOC. This wine opens with fresh aromas of fruit and subtle white flowers, followed by a balanced palate featuring yellow fruit flavors and delicate floral notes. The finish is crisp and invigorating, making it an easy-drinking yet well-crafted expression of the style.

Pinot Grigio was introduced to northern Italy from Burgundy and found its ideal home across Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Trentino. In 2016, the Delle Venezie DOC replaced the former IGT classification, establishing stricter quality standards and traceability. Today, it stands as one of Italy’s largest appellations, known for producing fresh, tangy, approachable Pinot Grigio with an emphasis on sustainability and modern winemaking.

Aralena pairs beautifully with light pasta dishes, grilled or roasted chicken, sautéed vegetables, soft cheeses like mozzarella or burrata, fresh seafood, and crisp green salads.
