Lasagna Directions
1. Cook the noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the meat sauce
In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
Add the chopped onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook for 5–7 minutes, until vegetables are softened.
3. Season the sauce
Stir in Italian seasoning, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Add the Ragu spaghetti sauce, mix well, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
4. Make the ricotta mixture
In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning, basil, and egg. Mix until smooth.
5. Assemble the lasagna
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Layer as follows:
• Lasagna noodles
• Ricotta mixture
• Meat sauce
• A mix of mozzarella, Colby Jack, and Parmesan cheeses
Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and a generous layer of cheese on top.
6. Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Rest and serve
Let lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy.
