Terrace Talk | Everything and the Kitchen Sink 🇮🇹

September came in like a wave none of us saw coming.

What began as a normal month quickly turned into one of the most emotional seasons of our lives. My mom’s sudden and completely unexpected illness changed everything, and within moments, we said goodbye to her on 9/21/2025.

Grief has a way of stopping time, while somehow the rest of the world keeps moving forward anyway.

And move forward it did.

Before we could even fully catch our breath, we found ourselves packing bags, gathering our hearts, and heading to Cape Cod to celebrate something beautiful: the wedding of our youngest daughter Brett (one of our twin daughters) and our son-in-law Chris. From funeral clothes to wedding attire in what felt like minutes, September reminded us that life doesn’t ask permission before throwing everything and the kitchen sink your way.

In this episode of Terrace Talk, Mike and I sit on our terrace at our home in Italy (October sunshine & clouds included) and talk honestly about:

Navigating sudden loss

Holding grief and joy at the same time

The emotional whiplash of saying goodbye and then saying
“I do”.

Renovations on the house (because of course those didn’t pause either 😅)

And the very real, very unfiltered day-to-day life happening in between it all. Another freaking day in the life of Mike and Kerri.

There are tears. There’s laughter. There are moments where we shake our heads and say, “How is this even real?” And yes, there are a few funny stories too, because if we’ve learned anything, it’s that sometimes humor is the only thing that keeps you standing.

This conversation isn’t scripted or polished, it’s simply us, sharing what this season has looked like from the terrace: the heartbreak, the gratitude, the chaos, the love, and the deep reminder that life is fragile, sacred, and still incredibly beautiful.

Thank you for sitting with us. 🤍
Pull up a chair, pour a coffee (or a glass of wine), and join the conversation.

  2. Saw you guys on Brads World. You have a beautiful apartment and wish you luck. We travel to Italy every year and stay for about 7 weeks. We rent in Florence and travel all around. It’s a beautiful country. We look forward to you videos. Ciao.

  3. We moved to Trabia, Sicily from the US. We bought an abandoned Villa close to the town/village my wife is from. It's been a ride to say the least but worth it. We just opened our first Casa Vacanze and that was exciting and also scary. Wish you all the very best and remember, piano, piano. Lol
