Brought to you by: Michael Franzese Wines

In this candid sit-down, Michael and Camille share the foods they grew up with, the meals that shaped their childhoods, and the dishes they introduced to one another after meeting 42 years ago.

From Michael trying his very first burrito…
to Camille discovering real Italian cooking beyond jarred sauce…
to the way wine became a part of their family traditions — this episode is all heart, humor, and nostalgia.

They talk pasta, carnitas, quesadillas, veal scallopini, and which Franzese Wines pair best with both Italian and Mexican dishes.

  1. Wishing I could indulge in a glass of 🍷… but sadly, that's a no go for me… but good Italian or Mexican food…? I'm in… 🌮🍝

  2. Great sit down with wife. Quesadillas are my favorite Mexican food. I worked for a Mexican restaurant and the owners would give me a plate after work. I plastered guacamole and sour cream all over each piece. Yummy, indeed!!

  3. We are TexMex. Husband and I went to Italy and what a disappointment. You go to a good restaurant you ask for a margarita pizza and they bring you just a flat bread w/tomato almost no cheese and no basil and the tourist industry is so bad. Most of Italian people looked down on us. Terrible and on the other hand Tourist Industry is a 100% in Mexico they have an attitude of “what do you want I’ll put the best in front of your table.❤blessings from Texas

  4. The only pasta I can eat unfortunately is gluten free pasta. I have IBS also known as irritable bowel syndrome. I can tolerate some gluten but not a lot. Regular pasta has a lot of gluten. And that would definitely trigger my IBS symptoms.

  5. A moot point. Both were my " Majors " at the NYRS..But Donna de Matteo did say that my Pasta Salad was the best she had ever tasted. So there.

  6. Mexican food can’t compare to Italian food gtfoh lol. People who think it’s better are basing it off a fkn Olive Garden they don’t know nothing. Mexican food ain’t bad but it’s nothing next to Italian food

  7. Michael, thanks to your Pasta Pomodoro video, I'm hooked on it. Cooked it for my fiance' twice and she absolutely loves it too. My townhouse smelled like garlic for a couple of days, I love it. Even cooked chicken Marsala too a few times.

  8. Your wife is gorgeous. My friend you are so blessed. As a brother in Jesus I am so proud of you God bless

  9. Burritos in Mexico are mostly common in Northern Mexico. She must be from southern Mexico. Definitely Northern Mexican.

  10. I really enjoy Mexican food as an African-American I grew up in the Bronx in a Irish Italian and Jewish neighborhood and one of my closest friends was Italian. My butcher Carmine was an Italian. And I have to admit I absolutely love Italian food. In fact the only cookbook I've ever bought was Giada de Laurentiis everyday Italian so I know this about you. Your household no matter what is delicious ❣️❣️❣️😁

  11. Being half Sicilian and half Mexican I love Authentic Mexican food! But Sunday Sauce is the best!

  12. Mexican food is definitely my favorite. My neighbor just handed me a bag of tamales this evening. Christmas is tamale season.
If you’ve never tried birria or mole, absolutely awesome. And caldo de queso, OMG. I can’t get enough of that soup, I I usually don’t like soup.
With some help from my Mexican friends my wife and I have become pretty good Mexican food cooks.

  13. My Dad was Italian and my mom was Mexican and I grew up with the best of both worlds food wise. Great homemade tacos and burritos and pasta dishes while mixing in the occasional burger or pork chops meal to mix it up a bit!

  14. This is an awesome video! My name is Elias and I'm a 21 yrs of service Army Veteran. I'm Mexican American and I love both Italian and Mexican food, especially my little man (my 10 yr old son). I try my best to cook as authentic as I can, I even make my own Italian red pasta sauce from scratch with San Marzano canned tomatoes but recently I think I love the Hunt's canned tomatoes more as long as they're blended in the blender.

  15. Damn she is quite so-called Americanized, burritos is a Mexican thing. It originated in the Northern side of Mexico where maize is scarce because the land is not ideal for its cultivation. In Central and South Mexican regions, maize is abundant, so we eat enough of corn tortillas and other stuff that include maize like atole and pozole.

My favorite food in general is Mexican and some Central American and definitely most of the Mediterranean food which includes Italian.

  16. If you like Carne con Chile Verde. You would love Carne en su Jugo. Its a delicious dish from Guadalajara, Jalisco. Just like most dishes, make sure someone at that restaurant is from that region if you ever come across it. Its fantastic

  17. Hello from Trieste, Italy. Some 85% of Italian Americans are southerners. Only 15% are northern Italians and those are mostly Genoese (my father) and Friulians – the Austrian Italians and the Celtic Italians. In Michigan, where I was born, most Genoese and Friulian get-togethers were on the Canadian side of the border (to get away from all the southerners). Near Trieste, they call the southerners "cabibi" ("our Arab cousins" so to speak).
Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph's younger brother was Maximilian, who was invited (by somebody to down and rule Mexico. He went to claim the Mexican throne, and was eventually killed by Mexican revolutionaries. A long story to say that, around Trieste we love Mexican culture and food. I often buy stuff in my local supermarket. Also, pasta and pizza are not entirely obsessions around here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG2TpEzfMzo&t=357s
