STORY

In today’s exploration, we uncovered the story of a family who dedicated their entire lives to producing one of Italy’s most prized rice varieties. Their home, their mill, and their community were all shaped by decades of hard work, faith, and tradition.

The family business grew across several generations, transforming a small rural operation into a respected mill that supplied institutions, supported local workers, and became a central part of daily life in this once-busy village. Inside their abandoned home, we found documents, letters, religious blessings, and machinery that paint a vivid picture of how much pride they took in their craft.

The family was deeply connected to the Church, welcomed clergy into their home, and even saw their own son enter the priesthood. Their devotion is still visible in the framed Vatican certificates and handwritten messages preserved throughout the house.

The final years of the property’s life were quiet. Personal notes, bills, and family mementos show that the last residents stayed here until old age. After their passing, everything was left untouched. The mill equipment, the office papers, and the family belongings remain exactly where they stood, a complete time capsule of a hardworking household.

This place tells the full story of a family who rose from simple origins to local importance… and how, after their final chapter, an entire community slipped into silence.

  1. Hey Lesley, I had to rewatch this amazing video, because I could see a lot of details I missed during the lifestream. What a fascinating location! So sad to see the amount of decay there, but there is nevertheless still a lot of beauty behind the decay. Some of the rooms were even still legit timecapsules with beautiful antique furniture in late 19th century styles and many smaller vintage and antique items. – I also loved that beautiful ornate chandelier in one room – and of course the upright piano. – Very interesting background history of the family with their rice factory. – It was so delightful to listen to Luke as well, when he was adding good extra information to different issues, and his camerawork is simply great! – Wonderful explore video, dear Lesley and Luke! I very much enjoyed rewatching!
Wishing you a very blessed Advent season, peace and happy greetings from Switzerland.

  2. @Bros of Decay today I found in Pavia a beautiful castle where the owner had a rice company. Three deaths occurred in that castle. I loved the stories snd legend but no I didn't see inside the castle what was in there. I would check it out if I were you. The story told that many went to explore what was left after the murders.
Try it. If you want I will try to find out more. Take care.

  3. Thank you again for taking me along. And thank you for showing the photos. Some don’t do that or very few. I like to see their pictorial history. Those rooms were ransacked by someone looking for valuables 😟 Love from Las Vegas ❤

  4. Hi Lesley and Luke , what an amazing place. Thanks again for sharing. You probably could have spent days exploring this place. A voyager from Canada.

  5. Dear Lesley, I am so grateful that you now regularly respond to Pastor Willy's wonderful comments on your videos. I know that your answers bring a lot of light and warmth into his life. Pastor Willy means a lot to me too. He has taught me everything I need to know about life over the past decades. For me today he is as important as a stepfather or a brother-in-law. That's why I beg you: Please never hurt him again!

  6. Все что с любовью создавалось несколькими поколениями пришло в упадок менее чем за 10 лет. Как жаль, что нет приемников и продолжателей дела дедов и отцов. Кругом хаос и разруха и это печально.

  8. There is something particularly sad about those flowers looking so vibrant and alive in a house that is so full of decay.

  9. What the hell, I haven't watched your videos in a while and you've grown a mustache, shave it off right now. 😂😂😂

  12. Спасибо было интересно, как жаль , что вы не пошли в той части где живут сейчас люди и спросили бы у них подробнее про обитатели дома.

  13. I feel like I was once there… like in another life. I’ve dreamt about this building and never seen a documentary on this building. And I kept getting deja vu. I was working in that first room you walked into where the belt goes on the wheel thing. And then when you opened the door to the square yard, I’ve dreamt of it too in the same dream, but I’ve also dreamt of this building multiple times.

  14. I'm sorry i have to say it but everytime you said the names Mario and Luigi my mind goes to Super Mario Brother's 😂 Anyway loved the wall paper, the ceilings, and the glass panels and doors in the building, so beautiful

  15. Hi, Lesley, I really liked the video, I wish your channel all the best, I like the architecture of old Europe, in general I am very interested in art (architecture, painting, sculpture), I am 21 years old, with respect from Russia, I hope someday I can come to Holland.😊

  16. Wow, location is amazing, huge and this room worthy of a villa !! I was exploring by night other spots of the city last year. I discovered by chance the factory, but i couldn't find the entrance to the site.
Did you explore the city's well-know urbex of the city ? It has such abandoned places.
