I eat at and review Cipriani Downtown in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City. Cipriani is a worldwide brand that started in Venice, Italy back in 1931. The Cipriani Downtown location in NYC is known for attracting celebrities and serving Italian food. However, the restaurant always struck me as being a bit pretentious, but I wanted to find out if my perceptions about the establishment were true or if Cipriani Downtown really lived up to the hype.

  1. I have an office at the WeWork across the street from Ciprianiโ€ฆitโ€™s always open when I leave later at night but it feels so cringeโ€ฆ like Euro trash type of place. It is Soho though it just has that flashy vibe. The opposite of โ€˜realโ€™ and โ€˜authenticโ€™. Itโ€™s the type of place where people who wear logos go to show off in.

  3. I wonder whether that "incredibly attractive" woman you were sitting next to caught this video ๐Ÿ˜‰! Thanks for your great reviews, James!

  4. Skip the wine and it would be about $100. But still pretty expensive. If I went there, I would share courses, skip the wine and offer coffee with dessert.

  5. Went there for New Year celebration a few years ago . It was the worst night ever. Drunk classes crowd, barfing everywhere. Terrible food a service. And we paid for VIP. Never again

  6. I think your surprise at being treated well caused you to cut this place way too much slack. A combination of the prices and the overall food experience wouldn't exactly have me going back there had I had your experience. I'd be very surprised if you actually go back there.

  7. I'm like you,I hate when they put extra crap on the beef carpaccio….that looked simple and delicious..just need some crackers or toast points or bread

  8. James, stop torturing yourself. You're basing your tip on everything you are billed for–stop tipping 20% on the service fees and taxes, especially on taxes, which means you are taxing yourself with your generosity. Don't return to Cipriani unless they give you a huge gratuity beforehand. You deserve it. Herb S.

  9. Un cameriere che serve il risotto in quel modo bisogna dargli il 41 bis a vita รจ veramente un gran c……e

  10. You and UA used to be neck and neck. He's lapping you by being aggressive and confrontational. I hope he doesnt "win". Your channel is by far better, even with the 1000 yard stare that fills the videos.

  11. You need to get to know an Italian family, then, after making breakfast for Nana, you'll be treated to these dishes 4 free111

  12. Itโ€™s always painful to spend a lot, but I donโ€™t regret such experiences when the food and service is genuinely good as it seemed to be here. Glad you had a great time James, looking forward to the next vid!

  13. Doesn't seem to me that the prices are at all out of line for a good restaurant in NYC! Bonus: the food you enjoyed seemed to be very well prepared & delicious and service was impeccable.
