you should eat it with bread, its usually ate by using the bread to grab stuff and eat with your hand.
Tagine sauce is supposed to be thick like gravy and eaten with bread, not liquid like a broth and not eaten with semolina. That alone tells me what they served you is not an authentic tagine.
