Excellent list and a tough one to make! With so many good wines all over the country and fantastic appellations it is difficult narrow it down. Definitely some wines I need to try.
One thing I have always wondered is how you manage your wine group. Maybe it could be a topic for another video…
Excellent list. Already seeking some of these out and already had a couple on your list and couldn’t agree more. A lot of the 2021 Italian wines are quite impressive at all price points
I’ve had the Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino. I’ve forgotten the year, but I think it was 2013, and it was quite good. I haven’t had too many Italian wines, but two that I recall were really good. The first is the Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore. I quite liked it though the second one that I’ll mention I thought was better. The Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore. I really enjoyed this wine a lot and I would happily buy it again.
Really good recommendations. I would like to add the 2021 Monticol Riserva Pinot Noir by Cantina Terlano. The wines from South Tyrol are quite different from the rest of Italy due to the mountain influence.
Thank you for the great recommendation as always! Italian wines represent great values even in Australia where all alcohol are expensive! I was at a sicilian tasting last weekend, and tried the Tenute delle Terre Bellacolonna, it showed great potential but was extremly compact and tight throughout the tasting. Fortunately enough their entry level bianco were also at the tasting, and it showed great potential, I would be very intrigued to try their single crus! Personally I liked the north facing and high elevation (>500m ~ 900) plots more. The other producer I found which were very good from Enta were: Girolamo Russo, Pietradolce. And Azienda Agricola COS located in Vittoria on the southern tip of Sicily, started by three friends getting together to make good wines, thier wines are at least biodynamic (and some natural) but weren't overly funky and showed good balance and complexity, most of them tasted like gamay/cinsault-ish.
Great list, terrible shirt!
Thank you for the great recommendations. I at least equally like the Pieropan La Rocca vs the Calvarino. Both are unbelievable quality for the money and agree goes amazing with seafood, especially scallops.
Mr. vinavecmargaux is as always very informative and experienced! I have learned much from both of you! Personally i favor Solaia that is by many concidered as to rustic…
I know that this is an expensive wine (2020 and 2021) I would like to hear comments from both of you on Solaia. I will gladly try your recomended wines because i think that some of these wines might go under the radar regarding quality compared to price… Cheers!!!
Can you do me a favor? , can you loosen up please?? You seem to know your stuff but I can only watch your videos for a short period of time due to the fact that you sound so robotic. Also your list is a list of very popular wines. Be a little more creative and show some more boutique wines.
