Why is Roero always in the shadow of its famous neighbor, the Langhe? Directly from the Roero vineyards of Piedmont, Italy, we show you exactly what makes the Roero wine region one of the world’s most unique terroirs for Nebbiolo and Arneis.
Join Hourglass of Wine for an on-location guide, filmed in the vineyards, as we explore this incredible DOCG wine region. We’re breaking down the key differences that separate Roero from the Langhe (the home of Barolo & Barbaresco). This is the ultimate guide to Roero wine.

In this video, we dive deep into:
🌍 Geography & Geology: What are the “Rocche del Roero”? We explore Roero’s unique, sandy soils (once an ancient beach!) and how they create wines with a totally different profile than the Langhe’s clay-heavy soils.
🍇 Grape Varieties: Meet the king and queen of the region. We’ll cover the fragrant, elegant white wines of Roero Arneis DOCG and the perfumed, powerful red wines of Roero DOCG (made from 100% Nebbiolo).
📜 Wine Laws & Appellations: What does “DOCG” really mean for Roero?
🍷 Roero vs. Langhe: The ultimate comparison. If you love Barolo or Barbaresco, see why Roero Nebbiolo offers a different—and fascinating—expression of the grape, often at a great value.

This video is essential viewing for anyone studying for WSET exams or any wine lover who wants to master Italian wine and discover a world-class region hiding in plain sight.
