Taiki Nakajima left his family’s restaurant in Japan in search of more inspiration. After traveling through places like Italy and India, he found himself in Portland, Oregon. There, he brought Japan to the Pacific Northwest with his Japanese sandos – composed sandwiches made with fluffy bread, with fillings like egg salad and katsu chicken.

  1. I like how you put some focus on Tokyo Sando's Instagram. I was wondering how you find all of these food vendors, but now I understand that social media probably plays a significant role in that

  2. My favorite part is how Munchies doesn't link to the website of the place they're supporting, or even so much as mention its name in either the title or the video description.

  3. YUMMMMM YESSSSSSSSS PLEASE LOOKS SOOOOOOOO DELISH, WISH YOU HAD A TRUCK HERE IN THE NORTHERN BAY AREA

  4. Anyone else get triggered by the fact he doesn't spread the mayo and mustard across the slice of bread after he puts it on? Also pretty small amount I love sauce so 4x that amount but for standard should be 2x the amount

  5. Oishi! My daughter and I visited the University of Portland over the weekend and this was our #1 stop. We had the Tokyo teriyaki egg sando (a.k.a. Teri tama sando) and Miso pork katsu sando. They were absolutely amazing!!!Taiki Nakajima and the young lady who took our order were so incredibly genuine, and a pleasure to talk to. We’re hooked.

  6. This guy is closing in December and moving back to Japan! Give this man as much support as possible before he leaves!

EDIT: they’re closed 🙁 gonna miss this legend

    EDIT EDIT: HES BACK!!!

  7. The woman at 5:30 is the sweetest, kindest person I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. RIP to a legendary sando. If they ever come back, I'll be first in line.

  8. I just heard that he's closing down his truck. Never been to Portland but this would hve been my first destination 🙁

  9. If you told me when I was younger about cabbage on sandwiches I would’ve felt that was some kind of sad depression era sounding food but as soon as I saw it was a thing in Japan I went ”ooh i can see how that works”

  10. I miss this guy. He closed his truck and it’s no longer serving these amazing sandos due to rampant crime. Portland just isnt the same anymore

  11. I love katsu sandos. I love shokupan bread. I just discovered you exist. One of these days (soon) I need to head over to the east side to try you out.
