I’m in Blackpool today and I’ve headed to Marco Pierre White’s Italian restaurant. I had a fantastic meal at his location in Birmingham so I hope this backs it up!

What do we think guys? Fair score? I didn't think there was enough food there given the price and location.
Way too pricey for Blackpool!!
Needed to be more food there for that money. 👍🫤
I had a curry at one of his places, The Manor Hotel Meriden. While I wasn't expecting a fine Indian restaurant curry, what I wasn't expecting was for them to send out to the local Chinese chippy, get a curry sauce, remove the peas and throw in a couple of bits of chicken. I sent it back. I will say that this was about 5 years ago, and the French onion soup was very good. All this while surrounded by black and white pictures of some looking moody and arsing about.
Cooking of steak is not good. Grey band is huge. Not enough flipping of the steak.
Quite bad food and also shows Gary seem to not know much about how a steak should be cooked
It looked nice, I have to say, but over priced.
Knock say 25% off and I would eat there quite happily. But if you are the only person in the restaurant then there are two fundamental issues…..price and price. I genuinely believe people are beginning to push back now the novelty of eating out post COVID is wearing off.
I recently found myself stuck in Dover overnight and ended up at Wetherspoons having their mixed grill ( I believe they have stopped selling this now) . It was brilliant – for the money.
I know slightly different to Marco's selection but is his food worth £35/£40 more?
Whole plate looks shit.
It's empty because the price denotes "go to the supermarket and buy the exact ingredients for a quarter of the price!" At least you’ll be full at the end of it, because you’ll cook yourself a decent amount.
Wonder if the peppercorn sauce was made with Knorr stock pots? 😜
Went to his in Manchester was awful 😢
Blackpool 80s early 90s was epic… Its just a toilet nowadays.
Toms should have been cooked and charred.
I agree with you, overprized for the amount of food you had. I am surprised that you didn't comment on the lack of a finger bowl for use after having peeled the prawns.
Marco is very handsome 😍
See, that looks decent, but that's my issue with these celebrity chef restaurants. Marco is a world-renowned chef, accolades coming out of his ass, yet he has restaurants with his name and face plastered all over the place, yet Marco himself obviously isn't involved with the food or the menu at all. I don't like celebrity chefs trying to sell their restaurants solely on their name. I obviously don't expect Marco himself to be in the kitchen, but I would expect him to at least have had a decent hand in creating the dishes/menu, but that doesn't seem to be the case. This restaurant bears the name of a Michelin-starred chef, but it serves medium-range quality at high prices.
Also, you shouldn't have to pay extra for sauces for a mixed grill. That is an inherently dry dish that requires at least one sauce on the side. That's a bit cheeky.
All in all, doesn't look like a bad restaurant by any means. I wish these chefs had a bit more integrity and reserved their names for restaurants where they have actually had some real involvement, aside from the business end of things.
Great review as always, Gary!
Fair score. Food looked good. Just very small portions as you said in your review
That looks rubbish for the money
Hey Gary, long time 🙂 I love the restaurants at H Inns in the UK.They had me at "all you can eat poached eggs". I respected the man even when he was a shill for Knorr. Now, he has sold out to his celebrity status. Something, he decried in others in the past. 48 quid! But the dish looks like it would feed two. On second thought, looks like a decent value especially in the UK. Almost a reason to visit Blackpool, lol. I am usually disappointed when I order steak. Even the prime cuts are a bit tough sometime.
Half a days wage Wasted on posh nosh.
Was that flank? Looks more like porterhouse or new York strip. Must have different names here in Australia
Not really surprised about the prices or the serving size. That was a mixed grill for two. There was plenty of food there for two people. I'd be more concerned about the place being empty.
People have to understand the vast majority of the bill goes to rent, wages, insurance and other business expenses. Then tax if they actually make a profit. Compared to here in Sydney Australia the price is just slightly expensive.
sauces of your choice I think should have been included when you pay £48 pound.
Blackpool 😮 ? Why, unlikely, any discount for unfortunate residents ?
That meal looked underwhelming. Looked like something you would get at a regular chain steak house, and certainly not a meal you would expect at a restaurant owned by an esteemed chef. Boring. That chicken looked especially drab.
Felt like ou were not expecting the best experience before you entered ! …..I’ve been to a few ….i know ,they just hold his name and not much more 😮
Saw those raw tomatoes and chuckled 😂😂
This guy will kill you if you give a bad review 😮😮😮
👍👍👍
Never been to one of his restaurants. Thought about it but someone always edged him out.
Seems pricey for what you get . . . Take care team . 🍻👋NZ🇳🇿🙏
OMG… Blackpool ! 😧
I always try the chips first. Hot chips are high on my list of favourite foods.
Prawns were cooked to death and both sauces are overly watery. Was the chef paying any attention to the food at all?
If you are ordering a mix grill for 2 then it should come with 2 of each and cutting meats in half, also onion rings and sauces should be standard and not extra
I guess for per-person price of £24.25 I can forgive the price a bit.
But for the price can you forgive mushy prawns? And at that price I might expect a slightly better cut of steak, even if it was small.
I know rent and staff costs must be high, but too many celebrity chefs seems to charge high prices for food that I can get just as nicely cooked in a local pub or independent restaurant.
Paying a decent price for a good meal is of course ok. But would I go to Marco's or would I pay for a good local independent pub/restaurant? I think I'd go local.
Knickerbocker glory! A blast from the past. I haven't heard of those for years
More sauce than meat
I remember as a very young 20 year old working in advertising in London in the late 80's and was lucky to be taken to a company lunch at Marco's first restaurant in Soho Square when he was the 'rock star 'chef. I can't really remember the meal I had but do remember being slightly horrified at the pigs trotters on the menu that arrived for one of my colleagues – 😂. Fast forward to an overpriced restaurant at the Holiday Inn Blackpool!? Really? I do hope it works for him but all seems a bit out of place to me. 🤷♀️. Anyway jmo. Love from Aus 🇦🇺 👍
The £1 burger in Blackpool looks a better option Gaz
Typical ‘celebrity’ chef restaurant – overpriced rubbish ! Expect no more than that, and you won’t be disappointed
if its 50 pounds for 2 people thats kinda what u can expect these days .
Marco is not operating on ground, macro isn’t there…
It's just a chain, sold out to hedge fund managers years ago 😮😮😮
