Check out the Wine Gallery’s chief wine officer, Banjo Harris Plane as he taste tests all our latest wine adventures.
Trebbiano is one of the most popular white grapes planted in Italy; found up and down the length of the country, it is considered the ‘workhorse’ of the Italian wine industry. It really shows different characters depending on where it is grown.
This example from Veneto in the northeast of Italy is a real stunner – filled with rich fruit flavours of apricot, yellow peach flesh and spiced pear.
The finish, however, is fresh and tangy, loaded with lightly toasted almonds and plenty of citrus like mandarin and candied lime.
It is medium bodied, with fresh acidity and overall just a lovely palate – well balanced, rich yet fresh and totally nourishing.
