What a wonderful month October is!
The sky seems to glow, nature takes on a softer and more golden hue.
There’s abundance of food, wine and a newfound cosiness abounds.
We cook more. We plan and prepare for the months ahead.
We walk through the forests and breath in the cool, crisp air.
We light fires and roast chestnuts. The villagers harvest their olives and grapes, making sublime olive oil and even better wines!
Everything becomes softer…gentler and seems quite magical.
I love this time of the year, despite the fact that it also makes me sad to know that I will soon leave and David is feeling it too…for the first time!
This is a special episode for us…finally quiet, alone, without guests or family.
Experiencing normal life, work and gentleness that autumn brings.

I love your vintage finds that leather box is beautiful ❤ and I must say loving those gold glasses they really suit you. The autumn colours in Tuscany are just gorgeous we haven’t quite got them here yet. I could smell the basil from here! Our one got a great hair cut last week when we made up the pesto. Autumn is so wonderful after the blistering heat. Niamh had a fantastic chanterelles with tagliatelle dish recently – that risotto of yours looked killer!

First of all: beautiful video again.
– Love your market tour: best prize treasures (this sunglasses fit you perfectly).
– Mushrooms: in Austria called "Eierschwammerl" (olive) oil/butter in a(n iron) pan and fry with (small (red) onions and) beaten eggs. Serve with buttered bread and/or a green salad. Delicious!
– Kitchen down-/upstairs?: I can understand your reason: your balcony on the first floor. But would the renovation costs be worth it? I wouldn't do it. I might put a small fridge for drinks on the first floor (good for hotter months).

I really loved this video. I only caught the end of it when it premiered and didn't see you filmed Vicopisano. We had heard the antique fair wouldn't be held or we would have been there too. We expect to be there for the November market. Did you say you were leaving? Do you still head back to Australia for the winter? The risotto looked really good! I've never been much of a fan of mushrooms, although I do like them sometimes if they don't overpower a dish and I like them raw in salads. Tim loves them and these particular ones look so pretty that I think I will get some next time I see them at the market. I bought a magazine recently that had a whole section of recipes for them. I've just finished de-seeding 7 pomegranates and then juiced them and I'm simmering the juice on the stove with a little sugar and lemon juice to make pomegranate molasses. I love experimenting although Tim is really the primary cook in our house 🙂
