  1. My ancestors are from north of Strasbourg, around Seltz.
My 3rd G-GPA, Joseph Kocher, was born in Strasbourg.

  2. Strassburg is the main town of Elsass-Lothringia. It is a german speaking country which is under the power of the french government like Brittany or Basque land or Corsica and so on. Our language is forbidden by the french authority, we have no rights. We are not french, we are alsatian : Elsass-Lothringer
We want to be free !

  3. Did they still speak German in the 90's?
Alsace was not "annexed" to Germany, it rather became part of it at the same time as Prussia or Bavaria. Calling it "annexation" is historically wrong. Nobody spoke French there back then and the buildings are the only remaining ones in Germany that weren't destroyed during the wars. How fun that real German architecture is only found in France.
