After a wonderful time in Tuscany and Lake Garda, we head back to England in the VW ID.7 Tourer (Pro S Match 86kWh) via the Italian Alps. And after about 2,500 miles / 4,000 km, how much has the trip cost? And, more importantly, what does my wife think of the car? “Bleep” button on standby. Get ready for a lot of hiking, and even more eating. 🇮🇹⚡

Big thanks to IONITY for sponsoring the trip. ⚡️

  1. These travelogues are very well put together and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for taking the trouble. Hoping to live long enough to see Mr.EV driving a car with controls that meet his exacting standards!

  2. The music you choose is ace mate! I often find myself Shazamming during your videos. Mountain Quail was quite the find! Also fantastic content as always. Thanks!

  3. Another cracking video (again)… I agree the buttons are bloody annoying (same on the Cupar). Take care

  4. The great thing about your EV/food/Travelogue videos Andrew is that they are the ultimate in subtle slaps in the face for all those who say, "yes I'd have an EV for local driving but I wouldn't use one for road trips"!
I live near to Toulouse and, during one of the endless arguments about EVs in my local bar, one of my French friends came out with exactly this old chestnut. "But." I replied. "You know that I've just driven to Saumur in the Loire valley via La Rochelle, (a round trip of around 1500kms ). "Still, wouldn't buy one". He insisted!! What can you do? Keep up the Till family videos.

  5. When using apple Maps, do you manually pre condition the battery or is that not needed during this time of the year?

  6. 39:56 Great Video. It was a pleasure to watch those 2 episodes. 13 min. charge time. I think this is what most gas people don't get right, that you are allowed to arrive with 10% at your house or hotel because the car is sitting there for hours and can recharge easily.

  7. The downside to these road trip vlogs is that I start dreaming and planning our next summer trip to Italy. Even when it is only October… 😀
How strange that the car starts dumping the heat inside of the cabin, reminds me of old cars that were overheating… :/
I really love an estate, our estate Corolla is so much more practical than the Model 3 company car.

  8. Wonder how many of the subscribers are mainly on board for the Flaviana content? 😅 A disguised FLR channel 👸❤️

  9. Another thoroughly interesting and engaging video, Andrew. Thanks.
Any chance that Flaviana could post the recipe for the ricotta cake? She really should have her own channel, too. 😊

  10. As I said to you in Farnborough, the production quality of your videos is so good now. It's really worth the hours you've poured into it – I hope you think so too. Ionity have got themselves a bargain here even if you're later than planned.

  11. for the cruise control, I have an Arteon, press up and down to increase/decrease speed by 5mph / 10kmh, and press left and right to increase/decrease by 1mph / 1kmh.

  12. Got my id7 last week thanks to Andrew for a recommendation on twitter message. Feb 15 with 11k kms on it, in Dublin.
Don't have the pano roof but otherwise looks v similar.
    Wife loves the seat massage.

I had a few of the same issues
The cruise button is hard to get the 1k jumps.
Finding all the settings takes getting used to.
No frunk is a shame, but the boot is huge.
Kia would send me a message if the car wasn't locked, which the vw doesn't.
    Still figuring out.

    Positives
HUD does work with Google maps and is great
    The space and extras.
The range and the fast DC charging is great.
The charging, I have a 3 hour window at home. My 64kwh Niro used to charge 25% on 7kw 3 hrs The id7 charged 26% last night from 10% 77kwh battery
    So something better there.

After a week I am still getting used to the car.

Loved the family content too, have a 5 year old daughter so looking forward to making memories with my family.

  13. Crikey. More professional than the professionals !! Apparently tube is more popular than BBC !

  14. Great production and very enjoyable. Also, I love the music choices you put into the video. Well done.

  15. We both really enjoyed your road trip to Italy, have been to several of those places many years ago, now have an ID.7 Tourer and are off to the Costa del Sol, Spain in Decmeber for 90 days winter break driving down through France and planning to charge at Ionity all the way, with first charge at Lewes (UK) and final charge in Sotogrande (Spain).. Thanks for the very informative and useful info. Looking forward to you net trip review…. We have the ventilated seats in ours, but think for the first part we will be using the heated seats and steering wheel…..

  16. By putting warm air into the cabin the heat pump is extracting heat from the battery/ inverter in order to cool it down quickly.

  17. Well done Andrew! Fantastic entertainment delivered in a really laid back but very professional style. And all that editing must be a real labour of love. Hope Ionity makes it all worthwhile for you 🤔😃

  18. hirtshals in denmark to hoek van holland in 10 hours (1000km) not going daft in a 1 litre city car – and you have a limo hehe

  19. Great memories, you can look back in years to come with your family and laugh how we use to have to stop and plug-in for 20 minutes and need to use clumsy buttons on the steering wheel. And of course the family memories as well 😂

think it’s about time you did an EV review of all the cars you’ve taken down to Italy.

  20. Andrew time for a toll tag, much quicker and certainly easier on your own. Tiny cost. Would like to have seen your journey through France.

  21. Again a great video thank you for sharing your rod trip with us. I'm curious how you connected the charging stations to your Apple Maps. I have a Kia EV3 and when I made a road trip I used the Kia software to add charging stations to my trip. But often they were not the best or very expensive

  22. Flaviana and you are bringing your daughter up so brilliantly, so many kids miss out on adventures like these and instead just sit on beaches in spain.
