Join Rick and Andrea for our updated Costa Smeralda Cruise Review 2025! After a full week sailing the Western Mediterranean aboard Costa Cruises’ flagship ship, we’re sharing everything you need to know — from boarding in Genoa Italy to dining, service, entertainment, cabins, and excursions. If you’re planning a Mediterranean cruise with Costa Cruises, this honest, unsponsored review will help you decide if the Costa Smeralda is right for you!
Discover what’s new since our last review: smoother embarkation in Genoa, updates to the Bellavista Restaurant, improvements in Costa excursions, and how the ship’s LNG technology makes for a cleaner, quieter sailing experience. We’ll also take you through the Costa Design Museum (CoDe), specialty dining like Osteria Frescobaldi and Archipelago, and the stunning spa and wellness area.
We’ll rate every aspect — from food, bars and drinks, and service to cleanliness, cabins, and value for money — using our unique Five Anchors scale (plus special “Rick & Andrea Awards” for standout moments!).
If you’re researching Costa Cruises reviews, Costa Smeralda tours, or Italy cruise tips, this is the ultimate guide for you. Learn what to expect on a Costa Cruise 2025, find out about Costa’s loyalty program (C-Club), and get first-hand travel advice for Barcelona, Naples, Cagliari, Marseille, and Civitavecchia.
💡 Watch until the end for our final verdict and tips on how to plan the perfect cruise vacation to Italy and the Mediterranean!

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend’s lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.

After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

  2. I’ve been on Toscana in summer 2024, and would love to go on Smeralda one day. In Toscana I had an inside cabin, for Smeralda I would love a Sea Terrace cabin.
