Great work guys. I love plavac Mali
Thanks Matthew and Clarine. Will look for that Plavac Mali. Fun to visit Crotia with you albeit virtually!
Actually, although this wine is from relatively young vineyard, Croatia and it's territory has extremely long tradition of wine producing that spans well over 2O00 years or even longer since Dalmatian coastal areas and some Islands have been inhibited even by ancient Greeks among others also known for it's wines.
Nowadays Croatia has huge number of wineries, wine regions, local vine sorts some of which are indigenous to Croatia like Crljenak (imported over one century to America and known as Zinfandel!).
There are two principal wine zones: continental Croatia and Adriatic one.
In every one of them there's at least half a dozen of smaller distinctive wine sub-regions if not even more!
Wines from the Adriatic vineyards that are predominantly but not exclusively red ones, tend to be stronger than those majority of continental wines that are mostly white variations.
Regardless of variations, there are many splendid internationally highly recognized Croatian wine producers, many of which with very, very long tradition, some of which even several hundred years old!
Also one fun fact: some of the Croatian wines have been served in several occasions even on English Royal court, most notoriously for the coronation of Her Majesty's Queen Elizabeth!
Also, one of the Croatian wines, unfortunately I don't know which of it was, has also been served most recently at the President Joe Biden's inauguration!
So Croatia definitely isn't newcomer when it comes to producing wines of exquisite quality but our wineries are
just recently beginning to come in front of international attention which demands huge effort since Croatia is small and relatively newly independent country! Also it's hard as such to get needed attention and recognition before much larger and more known wine producers from France, Italy, Spain or California.
My recommendations for you would be to try these kinds of Croatian wines made by some of the best wine producers: Pošip, Žlahtina, Babić, Teran, Graševina, Zweigelt, Traminac, Rizling…
Thank you very much for promotion of Croatian wines! Cheers!
Kind regards from Croatia!
Croatian wines are the best in the world !
I love that your wife is so interested in wine too. It's so fun drinking with the person you love the most in the world. Makes even box wine taste passable.
well done
i like our croatian wines, but me personaly, i love chilean wines the best, red wines i mean
I’d love for you to spotlight the “triplet” relationship between Croatian Plavac Mali, Italian Primitivo, and Californian Zinfandel with a three bottle taste off!
well done
