The unacceptable behavior of fans at Bethpage Black hit a new low Saturday, when a drink appeared to be swatted out of a fan’s hand and struck the hat of Rory McIlroy’s wife, Erica Stoll.
The beverage toss, which was caught on video by Spanish TV channel Movistar, seemed to connect with Stoll, who turned around in shock, as did McIlroy.
The video appears to show McIlroy, 36, comforting Stoll before the pair walked off.

In the three different country annual bicycle tours, if a fan does something like that, they are arrested. A year or two ago, a young woman turned her back on the charging peleton in order to get her sign on viewed by the motorbike cameras. She was saying hello to her grandmother. The sign caused a rider at the front of the group to lose control and took down 40 riders in the mass crash. 2 riders could not continue the next day. After being in hiding for several days, she turned herself in, went to court, was convicted, paid a $1200 fine and a suspended sentence.

The people who didn’t support the United States team in the Ryder cup and instead of helping them win, acted so disrespectfully to the European team, especially Rory. Those people, should not be allowed to buy tickets for the Ryder cup again. If I was in charge of the PGA of America, I would never have the Ryder cup at a golf course in New York again. Especially not Bethpage black. The course is great and historic. The horrible behavior of throwing a bottle at the wife of a golfer on the European team is completely shameful. 😢😢😢
