Whether I’m visiting friends or serving my family at home, this lasagna always feels like a little trip to Italy — rich, cheesy, and unforgettable💛
Lasagna recipe:
Meat Sauce:
• Olive oil
• Ground beef – 600 g
• Onion – 1
• Carrot – 1
• Garlic – 3–4 cloves
• Salt – 1 tsp
• Pepper mix – ½ tsp
• Thyme – 1 tsp
• Canned tomatoes – 5 tbsp (I use tomato and basil pasta sauce from Classico)
• Butter – 30 g
Béchamel Sauce:
• Butter – 40 g
• Flour – 36 g
• Milk – 800 ml
• Salt – ½ tsp
• Nutmeg
Other:
• Lasagna sheets (I use oven ready)
• Parmesan
• Mozzarella
How to make lasagna:
Cook the ground beef in olive oil until all the liquid is gone. Add onion, carrot, and garlic, and sauté until fragrant. Stir in tomato paste, salt, pepper mix, and thyme. Add butter and about 1½ cups of water. Cover and let it simmer slowly for 2 hours — this makes the sauce rich and flavorful.
For the creamy béchamel sauce, melt butter, whisk in flour, and lightly sauté. Gradually pour in warm milk, stirring as you go. Season with salt and nutmeg, then cook until smooth and thick. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t burn.
Now it’s time to build our lasagna! Start with a layer of meat sauce, then lasagna sheets. Add more meat sauce, spread béchamel on top, and sprinkle generously with Parmesan and mozzarella. Keep repeating the layers until you’re out of ingredients.
Bake for 20 minutes covered with foil. Then uncover, add more cheese, and bake another 5–10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
And there you have it — a cheesy, creamy, homemade lasagna that’s impossible to resist! 🍝🧀
