Delmonico’s in New York City, is the oldest fine dining restaurant in the United States. It attracted business from the “Gilded Class,” by offering private dining rooms as well as a large ball room which could be used to host the elabaorate dances that had previously been held at private mansions such as those of the Vanderbilts, Carnegies, and Morgans.

Delmonico’s was closed during the prohibition. It was also closed during the Covid pandemic and did not reopen until 2023 due to rennovations.
