I first saw this as a child. Her acting in this is superb. She terrified me! I next saw her in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and was amazed at how sweet and funny she could be. Her range as an actress was truly impressive.

As far as I'm concerned, Marilyn should have at least gotten an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for this film. People think of her as only in comedies or musicals but she had quite a few dramatic parts and this is an excellent one playing an emotionally disturbed baby sitter. What is so great about this performance, is that although her character does some terrible things, she shows a fragility and vulnerability where you can't help but have pity for her in the end and all with subtelty and without overacting. And even though the stars of this film are Richard Widmark and Anne Bancroft, Marilyn completely steals the picture. It's impossible to see anyone else in a scene but her.
i am littile but still wanna be like her i wanna be a acter and take some time off and make a theme park of her with a big statio of her but no inapoprit poses and i wanna have the same hair and makeup and everything i will read all the books and i will watch all the old moves and i will have everything of hers and i will show littile kids to be nice and teach them of her i will make her happy

I think this was one of Marilyn’s very best movies .. She was very convincing in her role as the mentally unstable babysitter , Excellent acting !! And Elisha Cook was also amazing in his role ! Great, great movie !! ❤
