Ever wonder what the first fusion recipe is? Well UNESCO claims it’s Macanese cuisine’s fusion of Portuguese and Cantonese recipes… but I challenge that!! 1000 years ago, one of the first food collabs, or fusions between two culinary cultures occurred in Sicily with Arancini. In the 10th century, Arabic traders brought rice and saffron, and advanced cooking techniques, which when combined with the Italian cooking tradition gave us what we have today. This is Sicilian Arancini.

  1. Italian food itself is fusion. Pizza is mispronounced pita which is the Greek word for flat bread which comes from the middle east. Pasta is actually noodles it travelled to Italy through the silk road 5 thousand years ago and pasta was in Greece before Italy which was a country also on the silk road. Tomatoes are from North America they were brought to Europe in the early 1700s. Many things are from North America tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, vanilla, corn, squash, blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, avocados, chilly pepper, wild rice, etc..

  2. What advice do you have for someone who wish to beat the system ? Cuz I've been involved in Crypto Trading for a while now, but unfortunately, I've suffered significant losses, and it's been tough both financially and mentally. I'm reaching out for any advice?

  3. Air frying these is total bs. But hey, you have to keep up with trends and demands from braindead zoomers

  4. I love this, but 1k years ago there wouldn't have been any tomatoes. Those were introduced into italian cuisine in the 1700's

  5. It's not the calories that fatten you. And deeo frying compared to soraying them firnair fryer is minuscule.

Its the carbs.. the rice and breading thatll get ya. The oil plays a minor part

  6. Thank you for this wonderful video about the 1000 year old street food that still dominates Sicily 👍

  7. I’m be watched shows on arancini before but I’ve never seen or heard of them being so huge!! I’ve never made or eaten them. If I make them I’ll use your recipe ! 👍

  8. Looks delicious Steve, and as a gentle reminder for those who don’t know, use saffron sparingly, if you use too much, it will give off a medicinal taste. Hope you are feeling better, and Thank you for another great recipe.💕👍

  9. Macanese (rhymes with Portuguese) – pronounced like Macau combined with -nese, the suffix meaning of a region like Chinese, Shanghainese, Cantonese etc.

    It's not Italian 😂

  10. Instead of saffron, I use achiote oil to fry the rice. (Since we’re talking fusion 🇵🇦). Love yer channel n style! 👊🏼

  11. Fusion food is soooo much older even than that. As long as different cultures have been trading with each other, they've exchanged cuisines.

  12. Enough you fraud. No one cares about fusion. You are really a hack. And I have told you numerous times why and you still don't acknowledge or change you bad decisions
