This episode I’m in the north of Italy for a little lesson on fishing and preparing fish with my friend Alessio. This is a delicious simple summer dish of marinated trout that you can eat as an antipasto or as a healthy main course.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. The name ferragosto comes from the latin feriae augustae, an holiday in honor of the emperor Caesar Octavianus Augustus. Caesar is the name, Octavianus is the gens name, Augustus is the nickname from the latin verb augere to grow.

There is nothing better than fresh caught wild trout. Brought back a childhood memory of my dad taking my brother and I fishing while mum mended, or bought up on correspondence when we went camping.

Hi Kylie. In the UK, fishing for trout with your hands is a technique called tickling. It requires a lot of patience and gentleness, followed by the rapid hoisting of the fish out of the water onto the bank. A technique used by many a poacher in the past.

I so enjoyed this! I was in Bellago in Lake Como a few years back and ordered the trout. It was not something I would typically order but I was so glad I did. What a treat to be Lakeside and have a delicious meal and wine with that magnificent view. Yes, more Alessio please!
