  1. I’ve tried this. It’s overrated. 7/10. A Best pizza grandma or a yellow classic joe has better price to taste ratio than this.

  2. Why is American pizza being better than in pizzaland a hot take? If America never made pizzas, the whole world outside Europe would rarely be eating it. I lived in Europe, Asia and US. American pizza varies wildly in quality, from frozen pizza bagel bites to New Haven apizza. But when American pizza hits, it’s world class. Even in Europe or Asia (except Italy) American style pizza is everywhere. So next time you see a snobby Italian talking trash about how their pizza can’t be beat, remind them they put canned tuna on their pizza (true story).

  3. I'm probably too late to say this, but I would STRONGLY recommend a Georgian place called Chito Gvrito between Stuyvesant Square and Union Square on 3rd Ave. Favorite restaurant in NYC.

  4. The reason why American Pizza is so good is pizza is essentially American. Read up on the "pizza effect" and you find that pizza as we know it is essentially an American creation. Yes pizza did come from Italy BUT what came from Italy is so different from what we know as pizza that when Italians moved to America/NYC, they changed it massively to American Pizza. And when Americans visited Italy, most Italians had no clue what they were talking about so they took American Pizza and adapted it back. Essentially NYC is the birthplace of pizza as we know it and why Italian pasta is so much better is Americans didn't do enough to change it.

  6. Im sure it tastes great but boy do i hate pizzas where its just a couple of gloops of cheese on it. Forcing you to try eat the pizza tactically to make sure you eat the right amount of gloopy cheese in your bite

  8. western pizza is packs more stuff than italian pizza like how western sushi is compared to japanese sushi

  9. A lot of stupid comments in here.

    The fact of the matter is: Pizza in the US on average is better than Italian. The only people that think Italian pizza is better are basement dwelling neckbeards that have never been to Italy and prideful Italians that have never been to the US or tried any 5/10 pizza place in the US. Italian pizza just isn't good. Guess what, Italian steak isn't either. You aren't more sophisticated for pretending like Italian pizza is better, get that in your heads. You're just more stupid.

  10. That is not a hot take; I don't have a lot to be pleased about in the USA right now, but we do make the best pizza in the world. And I say that as a Massachusetts dweller who is geographically obligated to hate New York City. But credit where credit is due; it's the best pizza on the planet.

  11. I think the problem here is that you can easily find the best pizza in NYC as an English speaking person, but you can't find the best pizza places in Italy that easily unless you speak Italian. Most of these places will be in some obscure small Italian city and the owner only speaks the local dialect.

    I'm 99.9% sure you have never tried the best pizza in Italy, especially the Roman style one (closer to the NY style.) This is something I see often with foreigners. They come to Italy, the north specifically where pizza is generally a lot worse, and they go to some random tourist trap and eat the pizza there.

    While I love American pizza too, it is simply and objectively many levels below very good Italian pizza (I tried both.)

  13. Italian Pizza and NYC Pizza don't even really serve the same purpose anyway, one is like great tasting food with more natural ingredients and one is like great tasting junk food

  14. For whatever reason, people tend to forget that NYC is full of italians that brought their amazing cuisine and skills to America. Yes, NYC has incredible italian pizza.
