Great video for us again. Please could you do one on high-end wine for those who looking to collect? Thank you. Lovely video.
Italy has nearly, but not quite, overtaken France as my favourite wine country. Agree about Ferrari and I have just bid for half a case of the 2021 Albe. Langhe Nebbiolo is excellent value: my go-to is Rizzi.
Another most excellent episode!! In my mind, Italy without a doubt has the largest selection of quality mid priced wines. Maybe because they have the largest variety of grapes to draw from. Plus I personally enjoy wines that are not only food friendly but also can be simply popped and poured by themselves with no food. Just the enjoyment of the wine in its sole and naked expression. At least for my palate. And as always:
Enjoy the sunlight held together by water 🍷
Great video and excellent recommendations! I will need to increase my cellar capacity. I just returned from Trentino-Alto-Adige and was impressed with the quality of its wines. I tried Lagrein for the first time and it blew me off
going to a super bowl party tommorrow. which of these reds would you bring that falls under 75.00. im very familiar with the vietti and vajra vineyards but want impress my wine friends
By FAR Italy is the country that I like the least. I cannot understand them. As much I have have tried and in many blind tastings, almost always Italian wines come up dead last. I think that my personal issue with Italian wines (let me generalize) is that they have extremely high acid for my palate. There are some very few examples of Italian wines that I do enjoy a lot, specially the Petrolo Galatrona and the Flaccianello della pieve. I do own 3 cases of Sassicaia 2015 and 2019 but so farthey have not impressed me that much and I would prefer a good Bordeaux any day. I respect all of you that love Italian wine, this is my personal palate the same way many do not like Napa or Aussie wines.
Tuscani.. what a wonderful place.. tastes to dream of. So long ago
Thank you for yet another superb video. You're my go-to source for recommendations.
Thanks for the listing. I don't really consume Italian wines so many of these were new producers to me. I do enjoy Northern Italy white styles and Barbaresco, but often the center-Italy styles are too big for my taste. At least the Orvieto did sound like a wine I want to try.
Albe barolo is just a super wine for the money.
Would like to put this in there. Riserva, Poggio Lombrone, ColleMassari. for about 50 usd. just a wine i love. 🙂
A very good vid John. you truely know what your talking about..
👍
Just ended a wonderful day in Napa at tried all the best that Vice Versa had to offer. Simply fantastic. We bought several bottles of the 2022 and 2023 dr crane. You need to try it. We also had the 2021 hundred acre Morgan’s way which was 100 pointer hands down.
Hey John, I just bought a Bricco dell'Uccellone Barbera d'Asti 2020 because the price was one I couldn't miss. Have you tried this producer before?
This outstanding video reaffirms what we already know: your expertise in Italian wine is second to none. Your recommendations reflect deep and extensive knowledge, firsthand experience from your travels and tastings, and a true passion for Italy’s wine culture. Love how you covered such a diverse range here — both legendary bottles and hidden gems, including many of my favorites — all while showcasing incredible quality and value. As an Italian wine enthusiast, I truly appreciate this. Thrilled to see not just my all-time favorites, Barolo and Brunello, but also my go-to cellar defenders, Barbera and Langhe Nebbiolo. Also love that you highlighted Arneis, Orvieto Classico Superiore, and Montefalco Sagrantino which I think deserves far more recognition (excellent comparison to Aglianico which I also love!). Such an insightful and well-curated list — congratulations, John! Missed this video yesterday/last night but enjoyed it twice today.
Seggio podere al tesoro … mama miaaaaaaa
All of the Roberto Voerzio wines that I have had have been excellent. This includes a 15 year old Barbera that was exceptional. Fuligni is very good. Would also include Le Machiole Messorio for a special occasion. And Cepparello.
Do you not like Amarone??!
Italy is my favorite country for wine. The Tomassi Valpolicella Classic Superiore is my favorite I’ve had.
I just tried iCollirossi Monforte d’Alba Barolo 2019……$35……and it was outstanding! The aroma alone was mesmerizing!
