  1. Our costco has sold out of the chianti, not expecting more. We liked it for pasta evenings. But will definitely look for the pinot noir.

  2. Thanks again, Bob. I got 2 takeaways on your video. I have seen so many bad reviews of Kirklands Pino Grigio, that I have never bought it. I respect your opinion the most so I will give it a shot not to expect anything great, but just a nice enjoyable simple refreshing wine. My other takeaway is that I will try the Pinot Noir. I’ve never had a good one under $10 but in my WSET 2 class identified Carneros as a region that makes good Pinot Noir so I’m excited to try it.

  3. Another great review, sir! Just a few personal general points and one question:
    1) Pinot Grigio, to me, is the perfect β€œbring a bottle to the backyard party” wine. Very easy drinking, especially when chilled.
    2) My wife seems to only like Chardonnay, and she likes that Sonoma wine for $7.99. I belong to 3 wine clubs, all offering Chards, and for $7.99 I can buy this wine instead of the $40 Club Chards, and I order great reds instead.
    3) That Chianti has the highest level designation on the label. Shouldn’t it be β€œoutstanding”? Do they make Classico Riserva Plonk in Chianti?πŸ€”

  4. Kirkland Chianti Classico Riserva is my most favorite sub $10 wine. You definitely need to let it aerate for a few hours. ❀

  5. Hi Professor Bob! Great video. I like how a man of your very rare credentials (Master of Wine) can enjoy and recommend wines for less than $10! It's incredible that you taste and suggest these low-priced wines for us. Thank you for all you do for us wine hobbyists…it is much appreciated. I refuse to spend $50-$100 on mediocre wines I've bought over the years that don't deliver. I'm now buying Bob Paulinski recommended wines almost exclusively. Cheers!

  6. Thank you I’ve been waiting for another Costco review! But love all your videos. I recently tried italo cescon pinot grigio from Costco – I have to say I love it. Have you tried it? Oh and the Pinot Noir review is so appreciated!

  7. I always appreciate your reviews. I’ll definitely be looking for that Pinot Noir. I’m curious what your thoughts are on some of those big label common grocery store wines. Wondering if there are any that do things well or might be a good buy based on the vintage?

  8. Pinot Grigio like that is perfect for a cacio e pepe, carbonara, or scampi. And I hope my local Costco has the Carneros Pinot Noir; I'll be checking in the morning.

  9. These are the kind of wines I am hoping for casual restaurants to serve by the glass and even if they charge an entire bottle cost for one (generous) pour – they'll be making x4 or better profits, while allowing diners to enjoy a better overall experience than when subjected to the choice between the plonk (or even decent ones) that start at $12/glass nowadays or craft beer that now starts at $7 in most places. Why not enjoy a glass of (affordable) wine with lunch…?

  10. Thanks love these reviews. My experience has always been that the French and South American KS wines over-deliver, the Italians are a mixed bag (the chianti is quite good for the money) and the California ones under-deliver. I'll try the Pinot.

But, the grigio and chard – no thanks. πŸ˜‚ I prefer inexpensive Oregon p-gris around that price point. (I'd love to try an inexpensive French Pinot Gris! Know any?)

  11. For anyone who has not been to a Costco store. When you are buying wine from that store. Because when i was in Costco I picked up a wine bottle thinking it was 13 US DOLLARS. And went to the checkout. On the way to the checkout i went back to where i got the wine bottle from and looked at the price it was 130 dollars. So they do put the expensive wines next to the cheap wines.

  12. I haven't had good experiences with the US Kirkland wines. Those from outside the US are, as you say, solid examples of their respective varietals. The exception is the JME Selection Rioja Reserve. That's a very good wine, period. For the price…unbeatable.

  13. I just love watching your videos. We get a Costco in 2026 in WNY BUT they can’t sell wines in stores. Have to wait until we are in Naples. I want the Pinot you recommended.

  14. I think you answered my question in the video, but I will ask again to be sure. Are Chiantis and Chianti classicos required to be made with 100% sangiovese grapes? Thank you

  15. What are the best type of glasses. We don’t have tons of room so we need a couple top picks. Thanks. Love the podcast. Learning a lot.
