Julie, not "pictures". Artwork, painting, image. Not "pictures".
That castle chapel is exquisite!
Just stunning
I would just love to thumb through all those articles
Just extraordinary. I was riveted to the screen…. Raby Castle is phenomenal, what a privilege to be custodians of such a historical castle.
Oh the chapel…gorgeous…incredible❤
The mattress room reminds me of the Princess and the Pea! 😅❤❤❤
Finally ❤
This is one of the most incredible historic castles with so much interesting family history.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
wow❤
I've got a silver mounted fox? paw brooch with an inscription CAUGHT BY HENRY. H. VANE AT HARROWCLIFF BRIDGE 1911. I wonder whether he is a member of their family?
I notice a lot of hunting themed paintings.
I'm just up to Julie meeting Julie lol super cute. This castle is stunning
Fab xxxx
Would be good to aknowledge that pedigree rools are full of mistakes and fake family connexion 😉
I always wondered why the Montagu family history stuck in my mind from learning about it at school ( N.E.England), well, having seen your connection to Raby Castle , it goes some way to explaining why! In history lessons we learned about our local castles , we visited them on school trips , which developed my lifelong love for them and of course your history . How wonderful it’s all entwined. Keep up the good work Julie & Luke , history is such a wonderful thing 💖
You're ideal for this role….you know what to ask with the enthusiasm and knowledge to get answers we love to hear. Amazing series❤your channel
This castle was built and owned by a Catholic royal family. That chapel used to be a Catholic church essentially where they held mass and baptisms and weddings. I am so happy you pointed out the original castle.
This castle is super interesting it was stolen by the crown during the genocide of the Catholic religion back in the days of Queen Elizabeth.
So this current family bought it from the crown later. (I looked it up on wiki because of the Catholic touches in the chapel. I figured it was ancient.)
Thank you Julie you did great.
Have you heard what is happening at Hopwood Hall
the montagu's are one of the largest land owners in England
Julie nice video regarding and beautiful Castle.
I have a tapestry of the Sheik, Valentino, from the 1920’s-1930’s I had vacuumed by someone who is a great rug cleaner of Persian rugs. I haven’t washed my tapestry. My Mother restored my grandmother’s linen and lace dress (1923-1989) that I was married in too. She used netting too for the lace! I am going to use Babel for learning Italian. I made a low grade in college when I took too many difficult courses. I sing opera, and Italian is quite useful.
Beautiful! But that painted silk at the end, just wow!!
Looking at this castle from the outside….this is what I envision a castle to look like! Rustic. But inside it’s gorgeous! Very tasteful and lovely.
6:48 oh my wow, beautiful. I would be in heaven
My favorite part of the castle is the apartment of the grandparents of the current owner, with all their personal effects all around. My grandparents lived 100 years ago and up until they had to move into care in 1966, their home looked something like this. I wish I still had their furniture. I do have their dominoes.
Love the original rooms!!! You can’t get that back if it is changed 😊
Evrytime I watch, I say, "This is my favorite. " Then another comes along. 😊
I would think the mattresses would be a fire hazard
🌹🌹🌹
👍
My mother told me a bedtime story about Lord and Lady "Barnyard" and their magnificent golden castle. She told me Lord sandwich stories too. I had no idea that the stories were about actual people. Lord sandwich on the high seas was my favorite because it was really funny the way she told it. I didn't know Lord sandwich was real but I loved him all the same. Has anyone else heard these stories.
Amazing interior – and those two Blue and White Porcelain Pagodas – !
The tacky, sloppy attire and the shrill, hyperactive interviewer are extremely annoying.
One thing to remember about the fantastic golden sitting room is that when it was new, the chandelier would have used candles and there would have been candles all around the room as well. I wonder if the small mirrors you can see at the wall junctions were originally reflectors for candles. I can imagine how plush and luxurious the room would have looked in the 18th century, as the Duke of Cleveland's guests entered after a grand meal in the dining room, with the soft candle light glinting off all the gold leaf and crystal and mirrors.
Hello, very elderly American woman here and as a fellow American I feel I have to put myself in place of your good friend because that’s exactly what I would want especially from a close friend❤😊So please forgive me but I know how it feels to be out and about with lipstick on my teeth and no one tells me… then finally a very sweet person will cue me in on it and I’m sooo embarrassed to have been chatting away for only God knows how long like that and very grateful when someone lets me in on it.😢 So here it goes… oh my gosh this is hard…. I wish this could be private because I think you are just the sweetest person ever!!😊
♥️🥰♥️…. But when you go to places like this and film please please please consider a bit of time on your hair sweetheart. I truly love you to bits! And love you, your beautiful family, home, heart and all of your channels very much! I especially appreciate your love for these places and history in general. I know you are a very busy wife, mother and working woman and I’m in no way suggesting extensions or pink hair dye but just please consider improving your hair game… and make sure your work partners clue you in on when a brush is needed.❤ Again please forgive me for my unasked for advice. It doesn’t change how wonderfully precious you are I just want you to look you most professional self. God bless and hugs to one precious and beautiful woman!!! ❤❤❤
And I beyond love this Castle! The Chapel is stunning as is that GORGEOUS ceiling in “Barbie’s” cocktail room!!! I don’t think I could resist laying down on a couch and staring at that spectacular ceiling!!!
After all we women have to stick together and watch each other’s backs!!❤😊❤
I love medieval Architecture.
This Castle is not what I expected. I expected raw stone floors & walls, Iron gates etc but this place is extraordinarily rich in tapestry, paintings gilded works & the whole 9 yards as if it never sat for any length of time.
I do not like the colour red for interior use, I find it too hot of a colour but OMG that room with the red furniture blew my mind as did the old dinning room with the red walls.
I've never seen a pump organ before & the fact it still works is nothing short of a miracle.
The Entire Castle is exquisite & so glad you folks spend all your time preserving such ancient structures. Its a delicious journey of labour & love.
Thank you for inviting us into your beautiful world. Makes me feel so good for living humble.
Priceless adventure, I’m in total envy. And speechless, I can’t stress enough how good you’ve got it.
Why oh why play music behind the narrative. It is so annoying having the constant low grade buzzing in the background. It isn't needed or necessary.
My ex-husband’s family name is Raby but as you know, no Rabys ever lived at the castle. Curiously, I am descended from the Neville family. My ex and I toured Raby castle in 2022. It is a stunning castle!
I love all the history and artifacts that are discovered. This was a wonderful episode.
Calm down Julie ,your American mouth is running away .
Thank you for allowing us to see these marvelous historic castles…. When learning in a history class, it’s so far away; yet looking inside the buildings, making the connections thru archives, it brings history to life!
Viscountess Julie, you are a true hands on historian with a gift of being the past to life✨💖✨
❤ ❤❤❤ Raby's castle is one of my favorites yet. I just love it. 😊
The Duchess has a wonderful sense of humor.
